Tamas Bruce - F/C John Logan CC
Memphis offered a guard on John Logan recently - why aren't they offering his teammate Bruce? Kid is from Osceola. Here is a quick write-up. His final game against Vincennes, he had 20 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks.
John A Logan sophomore 6-7 power forward Tamas Bruce might be my favorite JUCO player the past two seasons. He is the Tristan Thompson of Logan. Bruce plays with a ton of energy. The four man is quick to the offensive glass with a crazy explosive second jump. He is extremely active on the interior hitting the glass.
From a HS evaluation:
He definitely has a body to go to the next level, and his game doesn’t disappoint either. Bruce spends his time dunking and playing above the rim, as well as affecting the opposition on defense. He is extremely versatile with the ability to play on the inside and outside, but he was most effective scoring in the low post. He utilized his length and size to get easy baskets.
Skills Review:
Shooting: Good
Dribbling: Average
Passing: Average
Rebounding: Excellent
Intangibles: Excellent

Sounds like a high motor, high energy guy in the front court.
May not be the biggest or most talented, but seems like a solid role player from the bench at the very least.

What we need is some kid that can rebound like crazy, because once the ball touches Dedric or KJ hands, they are going to shoot it. That will be the Tiger offense next year...pass the ball to a Lawson. And don't expect to it back. And honestly that might not be a bad strategy.

Would he really have been anything more than a body since we've already got Rivers though?
Not sure, but they aren't the same position really. Rivers is a SF. They may play him at the PF some, but he's more of a poor man's Dozier, who likes the perimeter more though. Plus, I thought it would be an easy sell to the kid since he's from Osceola.
Anyway, not going to sign Ben Simmons at this point - just throwing out options - looking for short term deals (JC/Grad) that won't clog up future recruiting but who have decent numbers and are getting recruited by decent schools and could be pleasant surprises for next year.
Marquise Williams at Columbia State is still on the board - undersized PF (listed at 6-8) who averaged 13 and 13 last year.

We have 7 players on scholarship as of today. Basically a guaranty of playing time if you have a heartbeat.
So a body?
Like I said, he's a different position than Rivers.
So, if you're thinking of depth chart, etc, something like this.
Marshall/JC F/C
Dedric/JC F/C
KJ/Rivers
He's definitely not some huge loss either.
But I put him in line with Marquise Williams at Columbia State and Jalen Dupree at Cordova (signed with Murray State) - meaning, gettable nearby bigs that could probably plug more than one hole - F and C - in a pinch.
Obviously, if the staff is going to reel in a 6-10 250 hoss we've never heard of, then these guys aren't needed.
