No and no. Right now, we aren't as successful on the field and we are on the outside of the P5 looking in. We also run a clean ship and have two head coaches in FB and BB that have not brought any scandal or embarrassment to the university either currently or from the past. I hope to heck we can become the new Louisville from the perspective of the former and I do miss our rivalry particularly in hoops.

Wanna know why the statement "UC ain't ever getting out of this conference" just doesn't work? It is simply because this conference...the AAC...is untenable over the long term. It just is. Let's take the premise seriously, for a moment, that UC will be excluded from the "Power" conferences. Even if that is true, that doesn't mean that we're going to be in the AAC in 10 years. As the economics inevitably contract on this conference, something will have to give--drop football or drop to FCS or whatever--but the conference like the AAC will NOT be around. The $$$ in do not equal the $$$ out.

Several of the members of this conference...UC among them...already heavily subsidize their athletics budgets. That's not going to last. In other words, UC has bet the house on one last attempt to escape this crypt. We may not make it...in that case there will be hell to pay for spending $87 Million on a football stadium...though at least Nippert is not so big as to exclude FCS should it come to that. But a separation, a division HAS occurred. The "'tweener" concept is still on the wrong side of the line.

So...yeah...not losing any sleep over being "in the same conference" with you all for any length of time. If we failed to achieve "escape velocity" then the landing will be sufficiently hard to render the point moot.

I don't disagree about Cincinnati in the national conversation. We're a blip to many geographic regions (particularly out west). "Irrelevant," however, I don't agree with. The thing is, it doesn't matter what sports fans think. What matters is what do conferences that want to expand think. Kentucky markets are locked up by whom? What about Ohio and Indiana markets? Cincinnati can pull from three states in the greater metro region and for a conference like the B12 - they don't have a market footprint there. Yes, Ohio State is the big fish but Cincinnati is the next bigger fish in the State of Ohio. Unlike ECU, and I mean this respectfully because I live in North Carolina and know many ECU fans who makeup a great college fan base overall, we don't have to compete with multiple P5's in the same State like ECU does. We may never get invited to the big boys table but I like our chances relative too anyone else in the G5 desiring to do the same thing.
