Skal Labissiere going pro
Jeff Goodman: Kentucky’s Skal Labissiere has declared for the 2016 NBA Draft and plans to sign with an agent. Probably a smart move. Labissiere will likely be a first-rounder. If he stayed and was further exposed, could have slid out of first round.

Unbelievable.

If I'm a GM, there's no way in good conscience I can take him in the 1st 15.

He'll go in the first round. It may be tough to commit to him in the top 15, but the late round is essentially a gamble anyway. Someone will bite on the hype.

I'd love to see Z-Bo throw him around in the paint.

Lottery pick - laugh all you want...it worked. Think he'd have this opportunity if he came here?

if he would have gone to China instead of KYU he would be higher.

Maybe - but the fact of the matter is ...this is going to help Cal so much (as if he needed help)

This dude is several years away from having an NBA body. Be prepared to get thrown around like a rag doll for the next few seasons.

He's really soft. He can get stronger but you can't teach someone that's soft to be tougher.

But at least that half a mil keeps the "Cal sends 'em to the pros" narrative semi-honest -- in a dishonest way.

There is an epidemic of greedy parents and handlers chasing the money these days and the kids think they are ready. I appreciate talent and sometimes there are kids that are can't miss in the NBA. Many others come out too soon.

So.....hurry up and enter the draft before anyone finds out that you're not very good, after all? Makes sense to me.

If I were picking in the mid 20s and he was available, I'd take a chance. I have a feeling someone will reach for him in the mid-teens. Hopefully, it won't be the Grizz...

Totally agree. Hopefully agree the Grizz look the other way if he's still on the board at 17. That would be another Cezary Trybanski type disaster. However it he's still around late in the 2nd it might be worth a shot. Only after about pick 50.

Skal will likely be a lottery pick - Cal magic at it's finest.

If he's there at 17, I think Grizz take a hard look at him. Weak draft ...

Usually I'd agree because Cal gets the absolute max outta his guys but in Skal's case I just don't see it. I think he could've gone anywhere and done the exact same stuff he did at UK. He was going to get drafted based on potential anyway.

So you think Skal could've come to Memphis, sucked, and still got drafted in the lottery??
