I am looking for other offensive linemen to step up into rotational roles. Building depth has to be part of getting to great from good. A big difference prior to last year was NIU's front OL which rotated eight to 10 players without a noticeable drop off in performance.

He also had a number of snaps that were mishandled. Seemed to have a problem keeping his hands dry.

Carter was a great guy to have on the OL, but I read that he had an unconventional way of gripping the ball and maybe that led to some inconsistency. Center is one position where improvement is needed over last season. Hopefully they come up with a good one.

He snapped the ball holding the tip, very unconventional.

Remember, Ruben Carter was previously a G at Florida State. He transitioned to C when he came to Toledo and we needed a C. He was a big part in paving the way for our successful ground game and our amazing streak of games without letting up a sack. He'll be missed.

He played center in High School, so it wasn't a totally new position.

Big difference in snapping the FB in Miami's 80+ degree weather and
30/40 degree temps in the Midwest. Didn't see too many botched snaps
by the Rockets at the rainy Boca Bowl.

Carter struggled a bit w the snaps but was a monster in the run blocking scheme and solid in pass protection

Ruben had some monster blocks pulling around the tackle on sweeps.
