Yet it was still a buzzer beater and the last play of the game, even if 1 second should have been put back/left on the clock, I know you're not going to get caught up on semantics like that, are you?

RE: title game
it wasn't a buzzer beater. A buzzer beater is shot is in the air when the buzzer sounds. That didn't happen in the NC State game....

the thing that is going to be awesome. That shot will be replayed going forward more than any shot ever in history.

Come on, really? Best game you've ever seen? You must have just started watching this year (and even then, there was that 4OT thriller in the AAC).

Anyways, I'll assume that was an exaggeration and agree it was a great game.

I was at the Kemba Walker step back game against Pitt in the Big East tournament. That was better than that AAC game. Plus the 6 OT BET game between UConn and Cuse and that was better than the AAC game.

In your line of thinking is any OT game better than this one?

Once again I shake my head. I shake my head.

That said, if this shot will cut into at least some of the V Week and March Madness overkill of the Lorenzo Charles alley-oops buzzer beater, I'll be a happy man.

dude I just watched the video. It was out of the net with 1 second to go. That is no buzzer beater.

Was it not a climatic ending/made shot with time running out? Fine, I guess you win based on semantics.

I'm pretty sure my point was that you were overreacting to how great this game was and it was a great game for certain. I sarcastically made a point about you just having started watching this year then followed it up with an example of a game that may have been better this year alone, let alone throughout history.

Think I'm an AAC homer? How about Xavier-Kansas State in 2010? How about Butler-Duke the same year or Kansas-Memphis in 2008?

Anyways, I didn't mean to demean your point, glad you enjoyed it tonight.

RE: title game
the only 2 that come close to this are Butler-Duke and Kansas-Memphis. Because those were title games. What is going to set this game apart is the fact the last second shot went in for the win as opposed to Butler's shot for the win. The Kansas shot only sent the game into overtime. It's the shot that everyone dreams of when they're a kid- clock running down 3.2.1 buzzer, swish. And it was a good game thru out.

RE: title game
Oh goodness, just because a game had a buzzer beater or missed shot at the buzzer doesn't make it the best game ever played or close to it, there have been dozens of games like that throughout the year and hundreds if not thousands throughout history. It's surprising the way people instantly react to stuff like this, like immediately calling the latest Super Bowl the best game ever if it was a close game with a few memorable plays.

But if you like it and it tops your list, then feel free to feel that way. 04-cheers

Man, Jim Rome wasn't lying when he talked about how close Mike and Ahmad Rashad were, calling Rashad "Lil' Mike" (inspired by Penny Hardaway's Lil Penny).

RE: title game
If you watch the replay it's not splitting hairs at all. The NC State shot was in easily with over a second to go. A Buzzer beater isn't a last second shot. A Buzzer beater is a shot in the air at the buzzer.

go look at the replay of the NC State play thinking in terms of buzzer beaters. It's not even close.

Doesn't always work that way. Kentucky 48, (49), (51), 58, 78, (96), 98, (12). UK got upset in the regional finals in 68, upset in regional semifinals in 88 and lost in the 1st round in 08. But the every 20 year streak can be extended in 2018!

It was a great finish. It was merely a good game.

the NC State shot was no more of a buzzer beater than the Keith Smart shot 29 years ago.

RE: title game
Back in 83, under a minute left, the clock didn't stop after a made basket. Not sure if Houston had any time outs left, but the clock kept running. Also, they didn't have "tenths" of seconds back then either.

After Keith Smart's shot in 87, I think Syracuse may have called timeout, but not until the clock dropped from like 4 seconds to 1 second. Either way, SU acted confused.

We mentioned this another time, in the 85 final, the Hoyas made a great play. They scored with under 5 seconds, meaning Villanova didn't need to inbound at all. But a Hoya, I think David Wingate, batted the ball around 40 rows up into the crowd. The refs blew the whistle, retrieved the ball, and made Villanova inbound. Great play by Georgetown.

Also, to me, yes, last night's game was probably the greatest ending to a college hoops game in the 40 years I've been watching, if you combine Jenkins's winner with Paige's shot seconds earlier, in the national final. And the winner goes in with the buzzer sounding as the shot is in midair. The only was to top that would have been if UNC had been winning by a point when the shot went up.

There's also the side story of the Big East vs the ACC and their historic rivalry.
