All signs point to former WKU coach Ray Harper taking over at Jacksonville State. Have had multiple sources today tell me deal nearly done.

I think I just lost some respect for JSU.

You would think they would wait to find out about whatever is going on up there and why he suddenly resigned. Ther seems to be more to come out.

This could be a really good hire for JSU. Lots of players Harper could have access to. I don't personally like the guy, but he can win at JSU...

Well, I for one am looking forward to whipping his ass.

Why would they? TJ isn't a washed up CUSA coach who never really accomplished anything.

That is what Jax State specializes in.

If he is clear this is a really good hire for them. I assume Greg did his due diligence. he is a bright guy and will be a successful ad. Good to see them invest in basketball. Would love for them to get their rpi up and do another two for one with them instead of a H&H with Troy.

The search to replace James Green at Jacksonville State is heating up. I have heard that former Western Kentucky head coach Ray Harper is the hot name here. He resigned at WKU back on March 17th. Harper has a 88-64 career record (18-16 this past season). I have also heard former UAB and East Tennessee State head coach Murry Bartow mentioned here. He was fired after going 16-15 in his final season at ETSU in 2014-15. He holds a career mark of 327-248 in 18-seasons as a DI head coach. Finally, I have also heard long-time Alabama-Huntsville head coach Lennie Acuff’s name come up multiple times surrounding this search. He’s coming off a 25-8 season at UAH and has won 370 games during his tenure at the school. Acuff has also been the head coach at Berry and Belhaven, and owns a career record of 485-300. I have also heard reports of a few low/mid major south region assistants involved here. More on this as I hear it.

Yea I was pulling for Murry but this is still a good hire.

You know Murry would look good at UAB as Rob's #2 man............Just sayin.

Murry definitely fills some of the background features that some fans have voiced for a UAB assistant. He just was not as ready to be a BBHC when his father named him to the post as he needed to be. Fathers are generally not the best impartial judges of their children.

Murry would be a total disaster as an assistant at UAB. You can't return to be an assistant where you were fired as a head coach.

James Green is available I think.

I have no stats on it happening in college basketball (and I understand it is a completely different atmosphere/game), but it has happened a few times in the NFL.

Still a bad decision to make, for both parties I'm sure.
