Translates into more actual opportunities to lose when you don't have 5-6 gimmes in conference every year. Tulane and SMU were about the only sure wins on the schedule in conference for nearly all the teams in the top half.

I don't see a lot of differences...in conference play. I stopped at 2009 but it seems like 50% of teams in the conference back then were just as bad as 50% of the conference is now. At least not enough to boast about how "good it was back then"

from a homer perspective, if we can stay healthy, southern miss has the talent to be the first cusa access bowl team....

from top to bottom, this may be the most/best talent we've ever had....

the bottom line is a new coaching staff can only screw this up...

IMO, anything less that 2 losses is failure in my mind....

time will tell the tale of this tape.....

That's more than likely the case as far as division title race goes but not garaunteed but go **** yourself.

I'm sorry your transition to C-USA hasn't been as seamless as you had hoped. What's even more sad is this is the worst C-USA has ever been. So just imagine how things would have went had you joined earlier or the old teams were still around.

If those earlier teams were so great explain why 7 out of the 9 years before ODU joined...NO TOP 25. Two year with a top 25 team

Below are bowl teams with overall and conference records since Marshall joined and top 25 finish . I really don't see much difference

The way I look at it is who was brought in to replace a team we lost:
F_U for UCF
NT for SMU
UTSA for Houston
MTSU for Memphis
WKU for Tulsa
LT for Tulane
Charlotte/ODU for ECU

If I had my picks in those I would take UCF, SMU, Houston, and ECU all back. The only definite new school I would want to keep would be LT. The MTSU/Memphis and Tulsa/WKU are a wash. What really happened is we went from a competitive conference from top to bottom to about 6 teams competing and the rest just going through the motions.

I don't get anyone who thinks FIU is moving in the right directtion.
They lost to WKU and Marshall by over 100 points in 7 quarters of football.
FAU has had 3 straight top 4 recruiting classes in C-USA and had the 4th youngest roster in the country last year.
We also best ODU in the road last year.
Your predictions are lazy and worthless.

Ah yes, one of the teams "going through the motions" just happened to beat you in the CUSA title game a few years ago. Makes sense.

Nah that'll be Charlotte.

04-chairshot lol

If Charlotte has anything that resemble a QB, that contest will be between ODU and UTSA.

I don't know, maybe they looked back at the results last year and saw
- a grand total of 3 wins
- a win vs FIU that "lost to WKU and Marshall by over 100 points in 7 quarters of football"
- a 17-7 win against a 2-10 Charlotte in it's first season
-a 33-31 win against our other newly minted FBS team ODU that was "best" by the same FIU you pointed to by a score of 41-12
- loss to UTEP that was "best" by the same FIU you pointed to by a score of 52-12
- losses to Buffalo by over 2 TD at home

Maybe folks got tired of saying "We know they fell flat on their faces last season BUT FAU has a ton of quality recruits and a ton of moral victories, they should be competing for the title this year". Ahhh, If only championships were decided by 247sports #s at the end of signing day 05-stirthepot

Your 5 wins are meaningless the two extra wins you had were against UCF and NC central.
We have had many moral victories, but moral victories with young talent usually is a sign of team that can break through not to mention we outclassed you last year on the field.
With the way FAU has played WKU and Marshall the last two years it shows we are close and just need to take the next step.
FIU hasn't showed they are even in the ball park.

So actual wins are meaningless while years and years of moral victories and close losses are the things we should aim for??????

You're not close to a damn thing. Your team and your corny cheerleader coach and staff will continue to get the same lame results.

FAU outclassed FIU last year, fine. Just like FIU outclassed you 2 years prior. And by the way, the amount of injuries towards the end of last year (and no bye week) contributed in great part in the results obtained again WKU and Marshall.

Should have included Rice. Never meant any disrespect to Rice. I am mostly referring to the awful programs we added through realignment because they were in big markets.

I wouldn't call taking #8 Florida to overtime at the Swamp choking.

Now getting blown out by a Sunbelt at home is choking, that's just down right embarrassing. BTW CUSA went 5-1 against the Sunbelt besides that embarrassing thrashing
