Building a pretty unattractive out of conference schedule. Even if we win them all, we lose reputation on the national scale. It will hurt our chances to be considered for a BCS bowl.
It is a good thing to have 7 home games.

I totally agree - surprised at some of the complaining on Twitter and on here. You try to get 7 home games with your OOC games being 2 wins, 1 50/50 type game and 1 stretch (i.e., UCLA, SEC).
Who are the 50/50 games? I don't see them on the 2017 or 2018 schedule. A 50/50 game would be a lower level BCS team, or someone fighting for a BCS birth from out of the power 5.

Gotta look at the whole picture. We're mixing in H/H with P5's, with H/H with G5's in strategic areas, with an annual buy for a low G5/D2. Going for 7 home games a year, recruiting/marketing areas, decent SOS, no more than 1 buy game per year.
It's a solid strategy.
That was a big one. These are not mid's in central Illinois or Iowa. These are mid's that are a tank of gas away from campus.

RE: Future football schedule
I think it is a little light, but the potential to be undefeated going into conference play will give more momentum.
And the fact that most of these games are light travel for those in Memphis, also is a plus for attendance.
And we know B12 looks at attendance #'s too, even if they are creampuff teams.

Kansas is P5 in football?
Same program that has won only 3 conf games in 6 1/2 seasons?
Many AAC teams play at least 1 good P5 program (Ole Miss obviously qualifies), but most Sunbelt programs are generally better than Kansas on a yearly basis.

What?!?
Still considered a P5 nationally and actually was in a BCS bowl in 2008 where they actually won. They have been on the downturn recently but saying most Sunbelt programs are better is just dumb man.

Dude, last year Memphis had the #53 SOS while UCF had the #103. Year before that, Memphis was #63 and UCF was #72. Nice try to revise things though.

OOC schecules
Ok, considering the formula: 2Wins, 1 50/50 and 1 stretch:
2016
SE Missouri State
Kansas
Bowling Green
at Ole Miss
Very good schedule, 7 home games; 2 wins Missouri State & Kansas; 1 50/50 Bowling Green; 1 stretch Ole Miss
2017
ULM
UCLA
Southern Illinois
at Georgia State
Not looking good. 7 home games (good). 3 cupcakes and 1 stretch. Needed a 50/50.
2018
Georgia State
South Alabama
at Missouri
Possible. Needs a 50/50 game and not a div 1-AA. If they go with a Div 1-AA we are in bad shape for national consideration.
2019
Ole Miss
at South Alabama
at ULM
Not looking good. Only 6 possible home games. Need a 50/50 game and need it desperately to be a home game.
2020
Arkansas State
UTSA
Need a 50/50 game and a stretch game. Arkansas State should not be considered a 50/50 game or we are screwed.

Not ready to challenge for BCS bowls based upon beating a top 10 OOC SOS. We are setting up to win the AAC and be the highest rated G5. You can do that without playing 3 out of 4 OOC games against P5 on the road.

New to Tigers football, I'm guessing. You seem to base everything on "national consideration". We're building a program. We are looking for wins, challenging for AAC championships, big attendance years. We are not building a schedule to contend for a NC as the top priority. Win the games decisively, win the conference - you can still get in as the G5 rep.
Plus, it's sort of silly to go more than 2 years out in looking at the OOC. Not full yet and things change.
