Oh snap. Awaken the sleeping giant if they finally decide to start spending a little money. Rutgers really hasnt enjoyed institutional support in the past so this is HUGE in my opinion.

Someone, not sure if it's Delany or Christie, is forcing Barchi's hand on this. We couldn't fire Flood, we couldn't commit to facilities, we couldn't spend on assistant hires, etc. before now. Julie Herman's prime mission was to cut the subsidy.

Barchi's position on athletics has definitely changed. I don't think he had a Eureka moment -- I think it was forced on him.

Spending money shows you care so at least Rutgers is showing that much. But spending doesn't equal winning which is the tricky part.

Definitely isn't Christie. He could care less.

Delany may have finally said at least look like you want to compete. Or the continued negative media attention on how bad things are finally sunk in. Plus we're getting closer to the bigger payouts. Bottom line I'm glad that changes are being made, plans are being made and executed for facilities. Lord knows we need an indoor baseball/softball practice facility and even more so a dedicated facility for the basketball and wrestling programs.

We sat still for thirty years, while our then AD and Pres openly talked about their ambition to have RU be invited to the Ivy. Their idea of playing big time sports was to schedule PSU to knock the snot out of us. Their was very little fund raising and next to no facilities improvement during that time. What major improvements did happen, were more or less forced upon them. The true beginning of our move to become a major sports school started way late and has always been hampered by lack of funding and full institutional support. What you are seeing now in coaching changes and the facilities master plan, I believe is a combination of pressure from the BIG and a few deep pocketed alumni to finally force our Admin to bring us up to acceptable standards.

Just let us have 8-9 win seasons most years with the once a decade divisional title and i'll be happy. Battle for 2-4th place every year will be a great success for us. At least for the first couple of decades. hahaha
