Can anybody watching the game tell me how Jon looked after that error by Teykl? Thought it would've been a good time to pull Jon at 100+ pitches. *** 3-0 MTSU.

Predictable outcome after the "jump to a big lead" and pull Jon early for Tuesday talk in the other thread...

Frustrating loss but not end of the world. team needs to be built to win a regional. although no one wants to break the streak of conference titles the goal should be to win a regional. What is needed to win 3 games in a regional, meaning winning 3 games versus teams like TCU, A&M, Tech, LSU etc. those answers might be different than winning CUSA.

RE: Rice at MTSU Game 1
Very frustrating loss; exemplifying why baseball is a "game of inches". Jon absolutely dominated that game-- MTSU did not have a single line drive hit all game long. 3 infield hits (one could have been an error), 2 seeing eye grounders and 2 errors. Conversely, setting aside the awful 9th inning ABs by Gray (who swung at ball 4 on a 3-1 pitch before striking out) and Chandler (who was trying to a 3-run HR with no one on base, on pitches way out of the strike zone), we hit 5 long outs to the warning track (one caught at the very top of the wall), and another 4 lines shots (2 by Myers) right at the fielders. In this regard, we lost the game when Myers laser shot was caught by the 3B to end the 1st inning, instead of being a two-RBI double down the line. A game of inches, indeed.

BTW, Hunter had an exceptional defensive game today. Blocked 9 - 10 balls in the dirt, including several on 3rd strikes, which could have put the batter on 1B had they gotten by him, was 2-2 in throwing out attempted basestealers, including one on a ball blocked in the dirt.
