STR: Jason Terry interviews for UAB HC position
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/151085...g-position

Said that he wants to be prepared for life after his NBA career. Played at Arizona in '99. He could bring a little excitement to the fan base AND teach our guards how to bust a trey. Anyway the university can convince him to join the dumpster fire here in Memphis?

He spoke highly of Josh in this quote. However, it's from 2009 so he could very well have soured on Paz by now.

Lute Olsen's comments about Josh for your answer.

I've said all along that Josh would eventually hire Terry. He made a video for Josh at his first Memphis madness

How could adding an assistant coach with no coaching experience and no ties to the University bring excitement to the fan base?

RE: STR: Jason Terry interviews for UAB HC position
A family member of Terry's contacted a prominant UAB booster who notified the AD that he would like to interview. The AD is in Houston for the Final Four so he granted him an interview. Doesn't mean he is being given serious consideration.

Just Terry's way of letting everyone know he is interested in coaching. Wouldn't surprise me that either he or Mike Bibby ends up on Josh's staff. I think Bibby has a son that Memphis is recruiting too.

that Luke Walton hire looks pretty smart right now to be honest. Too bad he didn't get to stay here awhile.

Rockets' Terry no longer on UAB's coaching list http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15126280

From a recruiting standpoint, this might not be a bad hire for CJP. I know it doesn't solve the X's and O's problem but that coach is probably harder to find right now.

RE: STR: Jason Terry interviews for UAB HC position
I guess the question I have is if a coach:

1. isn't good at Xs and Os
2. isn't good at recruiting
3. has a hard time connecting with his players to the point a sizable number transfer
4. a majority of the fanbase has lost confidence in

how does he stay in that seat as head coach of the university? How is that good for the long term health of the program if this continues another year? Is there something the administration is waiting on, thus he's retained?

They were both on the same Arizona team weren't they?

Assistants are without question an asset.. but this propaganda about hiring one that's going to turn the program around is just more lip service.
