Proposals for athletic facilities turned in.....
The bids for the renovations of The Glass Bowl and Savage Arena were submitted on Tuesday afternoon.

It's my understanding that many of the bids were very close, and they will need to be read thru and analyzed.

My company bid the sitework for one of the General Contractors and they said they would have to get back to us once they heard something.

I have not heard if the bids came in below, at/near, or above the engineer's estimated cost.

I'll keep you posted.........

The bids should be made public in the next couple days.
I'll post them when I see them.

Bids
https://www.utoledo.edu/depts/supplychai...vation.pdf
Glass Bowl has an alternate for seating bowl modifications. Only 28k so it cannot be much
Looks like Spieker over Mosser for apparent low bid. $3.438 million

I would expect some sort of release from the athletic department when the bid is awarded in the next three or four weeks

Thanks for including the bid sheet

I am sure hoping the projected $430,000.00 electronics estimate is to some degree for improved east side lighting. (remove the pole!)

Their Athletic Department generates almost $150 mil a year, receives almost $30 mil a year in donations, and kicks over about $8 million a year to academics out of their surplus. $42 mil in renovations is a drop in the bucket for them.

So that is about 10 times what UT is spending for the glass bowl face lift. However, without bothering to look it up, I imagine that between ticket prices and sales, concessions, parking, merchandise licensing and TV revenue their football program probably brings in about 10 times the revenue every year that Toledo does, so from that perspective it is not as stunning as it might otherwise sound.

BTW----That is way it is really, really too bad that the Rockets could not have pulled off a win in 2012 when they actually had a fighting chance to do so which is something that they will probably never, ever have again.

Oh man, we were so incredibly close. Game came down to the very last play where the Rockets almost scored the game winning TD. I probably would have had beer cans thrown at me had we won as I was surrounded by a sea of annoying Red buckeye fans in the upper deck.

We found the local fans unexpectedly, non hostile (as opposed to the UMich, which we found unexpectedly quite friendly), particularly given the close nature and obvious home cooking of the match. But we had our chances. At least the game was called and played as if we were there to win, as opposed to whatever that was that occurred in Cleveland.

And how did this thread get turned to that team? The state is difficult economics and that's really all they can find to do with that amount of money, a nominal fixing to what was not all that long ago already fixed?

At least ours (the GB dollars anyhow) are going towards a true need. The Savage ones, still don't get. Sounds like ego return on someone's part. Would be nice to see someone step in and say, maybe there's other uses, which should be higher priority, whether that be infrastructure or programmatic.

The engineers estimate was $312,000 for HVAC at Savage per the bid sheet so this is very close actually.

Those bids came in line pretty well. Rehab work is always tough to estimate.
