RE: Big East Expanding?
Of course the Creighton AD would be all in favor of Wichita State, Creighton is located in Omaha.

I don't see it happening, unless pressure is coming down from Fox to expand the Big East will stay as they are.

RE: Big East Expanding?
I'm not saying that it ***won't*** happen, but I think Wichita State is unlikely for the Big East. They are a bad fit geographically and...most importantly...institutionally. The (New) Big East was created out of like-minded/like purpose institutions; Wichita State is not anything like the other schools in that conference.

If the Big East Conference expands (which I don't think is overly likely at this point), I don't think they go the WSU route.

Agree I could see them looking at St Louis or someone similar before Wichita State

Doubt fox wants to add more mouths to feed with already poor ratings from the Big East. They are already forking out $4 million per team.

This is getting out of control with these far flung leagues. These schools are not going to able to afford to send the softball team across the country. We're going to be left with:

Men's Basketball
Football

and no other men's sports at every school, with the requisite number of women's sports for title IX compliance, all in an effort to chase the TV dollar.

All the bigwigs in the Big East look out for Georgetown. Tagliabue, Val Ackerman, etc.

Georgetown makes the decisions.

They are not enamored with Creighton's ideas.

Case closed.

Dayton and St. Louis make sense to me...Wichita St could work too along with VCU

Tagliabue played basketball at Georgetown. He served as Chairman of Board of Directors of Georgetown University from 2008 to 2015. The Big East will probably stay at 10.

Again, VCU is dis-similar to the rest of the conference. I don't see it.

My odds-on list (and it does move around some) looks like this:
-Most likely, BE doesn't expand right now. But if the BE were to expand:
-Valparaiso (NIT finals... fits well with DePaul, Butler, and Xavier)
-Saint Louis (Fits well with Creighton)
...Drop off...
-Dayton (NCAA appearance, but overlapping concerns with Xavier)
-Boston University (It's Boston fits the historical footprint)

WSU would go to the Big East with VCU in a heartbeat over the AAC....I would if I were them.

The AAC should add VCU now to offset Navy. It so dumb they do not.

I could see the value in adding a VCU OR Wichita State specifically to off-set Navy, but that's it. Hybrid conferences don't work out over the long-term. ONE team would be the limit I'd be willing to go. VCU or Wichita State would both be quality schools that could enhance the American. But that is totally beating a dead horse at this time.

Didn't Wichita St. recently decide to upgrade their football, why would they then go to a conf. that doesn't play FB.

Isn't the Big East mostly private religious based schools? Davidson would fit that mold

They are "exploring" the options... The going theory, at the moment, is that they may have been contacted by the MW or perhaps the American (in the event of the B12 taking one or two teams). There are still no time-lines and still much that would need to happen before the Shockers would be ready to launch.

I am actually warming up to the idea of them as a basketball add

Truth be known, that's the financially responsible thing to do in the first place.
