Rice Tennis Rankings 3/29
After a big weekend, the men's team jumped to #26! They will have another chance for a top 10 win when they visit #2 TCU on Friday.
Unfortunately, the women's team keeps slipping and is now at #64. Not sure what is happening with them, but they have now lost 6 straight. Hopefully they can still win conference and make the tournament. They visit #56 South Florida on Sunday.

Yes, I've been wondering about the women's team, too. Earlier in the season, they were in position to be an at-large pick to the NCAA tournament even if they didn't win the C-USA tournament, while the men were just outside the bubble; now it seems the positions have reversed. There have been lots of close losses by the women lately.
I seem to recall there used to be this poster who commented often on what a terrible job Efe Ustundag was doing as coach of the men; perhaps he or she could tell us what he's doing correctly now....

The women did lose Natalie Beazant, probably the greatest player in the team's history. (Plus Zimmerman who was solid too). That's a lot to overcome in just one year. They'll be back once they get a few new players in. For the men, the two freshmen are really playing well.
All about recruiting like always.

The men got steamrolled by TCU today. Adam Gustafsson got a great straight sets win in singles over a national #54. Those were the only two sets we won all day. TCU won every other finished set and was leading by at least 1 break in every unfinished set. I don't know exactly where we should rank in the 20-35 range, but it looks like there's a big gap between us and #1. Hoping we do better in May than we showed today.
