Wish list vs. speculation
Other than the names that were on the list last time around and the current assistants, do we have any definite information as to who might have interest or be considered? Or are we still purely at the "wish list" stage?

Pretty sure that most of it, if not all of it, at this point is pure fan speculation.

I have no names. Just know there is a ton of interest- no surprise there.

If that's the case, it should be no problem selecting a good coach.. A lot better chance of getting a winner with 50 applicants instead of six or eight.

Three starters and most of the rotation returning from a 30 win team? That dripping sound you hear is coaches slobbering at the thought.

If Chasse should miss on this one he will have no one to blame but himself. (I don't expect it.)

I was going to put Jon Scheyer on my list, but he is likely a little to young.

Might do it for $5 million a year, or something like that.

How young is too young? If we can hire a super AD who is or was 30 years old, why not a 25-30 head coach, if he has proven worthy of our hire?

The only problem is there is just some amount of time necessary to get even the minimal experience.

I'm still holding out for Bruiser Flint. (Love that nickname.)

Evidently not. Seems more here are more interested in seeing the hometown boy get the job, rather than opening it up to see if we can do better. Besides, who in the hell could we get that would be better than Wes? Same song second verse. I think some of these were the same ones rooting for him to get the job last time. Must be the hometown fan club.

WESS FLANNIGAN!!

He deserves his chance, just like Shields got his chance when he was an assistant. Who do you think help mold this season together with Beard.

RE: Wish list vs. speculation
I agree we should hire the best coach available. If Wes is it, then great. But he shouldn't get the job automatically.
If he can survive the vetting over 50 applicants, then he deserves the job. But it needs to be a wide open competition.
