Volleyball will play a 16 game league schedule next year, but will maintain strict travel partners.

Each team will face the teams from the other "division" Once.

This is where it gets qurky. To prevent a situation where you would have to play one travel partner on the road, and the other at home, which means increased travel, the league has decided to play with unbalanced home and road splits

Half the league will play 9 home games and 7 road games. The other half will play 7 home games and 9 road games.

Do not ask me to explain why, I've never seen such a concept before.

The Arkansas partners have 7 home games...sorry.

And............what about us?

The D2 Great American Conference has the same format, the 2015 season was the first year. I had been thinking they should rotate a pair from the other "division" for a second match each season. Two each in "division" plus two each vs two teams in other "division" and single games against the other four. The schedule goes to 18 games and a balanced 9 home and 9 away.

Not first time SBC had strange scheduling

When 13 teams and 7 in West, unbalanced scheduling took place too with uneven home/away and extra match for West teams

The only way this makes sense is if they are saving a very large amount of money having unbalanced schedules. If I had to guess, App gets a break with 9 home games, considering we likely travel further than most teams. Likely wont matter, we lost a considerably amount of talent last year.

I doubt it is saving a ton of money but enough where it makes sense to not have to do a trip for a single school. I'd imagine they will flip who gets more home and away games the following year.

With the way volleyball teams do their scheduling, it makes sense and saves a few bucks.
