RE: How many players do you think your school will have drafted in NFL draft?
Just got in from Pro Day.

Brandon looked very, very sharp on his throws. He doesn't have and never will have the velocity that others possess but he was on the money today.

Higbee looked very good as well.

Dangerfield and Grant are specimens but probably UDFA.

George caught almost everything thrown to him.

Prince Charles Iworah ran an extremely fast 40. Someone shouted 4.1. Must have had really slow thumbs. The agent (?) talking to his dad said he had him at a 4.3. I know the 4.3 is a unicorn but this is what they were saying. Wind was blowing pretty hard so who knows. He's another physical specimen. It's unreal how good of shape these guys are in.

Back to Higbee. His knee looked fine but then again nobody was cracking him in that knee after a catch either. Higbee is a monster of a man. He's listed 6'6 and 250 and he's every bit of both. One of the draft reports I saw on him went on about how enormous his hands are and how athletic he is. This report had him as the #2 tight end in the draft and said he was more athletic than #1 Henry.

I got there after it started but my friend said former Topper and former NFL player Andrew Jackson was there running the 40 and doing agility drills for the scouts. He was one of my favorite Hilltopper football players.

1 David Morgan for UTSA, I see him going 3rd or 4th round and being a good NFL player. A first for UTSA. He's a great kid too.

30 out of 32 teams were at WKU pro day including a few GM's themselves. Very nice turnout for the Toppers.

Prince Charles Iworah really turned some heads as Beed said. Official 40 time was 4.32. He also did very well in other agility and speed drills and posted a 38.5 inch vertical with 25 reps on bench press. All 30 scouts and GM's talked to him today afterwards. He could move into late round in draft.

DallasCowboys.com specifically mentions 5 LA Tech players that "could be a fit" for their team: Vernon Butler, Kenneth Dixon, Jeff Driskel, Adarius Barnes and Kentrell Brice. Also says "Butler's stock soars at recent LA Tech workout".

Great article. Thanks for the link. I thought he was a monster up here and watching your bowl game. Good luck to Mr. Butler.

I think George Fant gets drafted on potential alone. 296 lbs, nearly 6'5", 37" vert, 4.8 40. He has the measurables that GMs and scouts salivate over. He also showed great hands and coordination.

Prince Charles looks like a solid UDFA pickup. Doughty gets drafted, Higbee gets drafted.

RE: How many players do you think your school will have drafted in NFL draft?
This publication has Kaleen Reed rated as the #6 best CB in the draft and a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Hope they are right.

Quote:6. Kalan Reed, Southern Mississippi
One of the most underrated players in the draft, Southern Mississippi’s Kalan Reed has big time potential, and shot onto people’s radars with an excellent performance at his pro day in which he jumped 41.5 inches in the vertical (which would have tied for the best mark at the combine) and ran a 4.38 40-yard dash time. Add to that the fact that Reed had the third-best PFF coverage grade in the class, notching four picks and 14 PDs over the season, and you have a player that ticks all the boxes. Reed made some of the best plays of the season among the cornerback group and has the potential to be a quality player at the next level

RE: How many players do you think your school will have drafted in NFL draft?
Looks like USM has a chance at a third player getting drafted..

Quote:3. Norman Price of Southern Mississippi, a prospect rarely mentioned outside of scouting circles, is another offensive lineman moving up draft boards. The 6-5 tackle who weighs 310 pounds was not graded by scouts prior to the season, but turned in a terrific senior campaign then followed it up with a great Pro Day workout where he completed 32 reps on the bench press, touched 30 inches in the vertical jump and timed 4.88 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Price has four visits on his upcoming schedule and some teams have stamped him as an early third-day pick.

The linked article has the following on a WKU player

Quote:5. Western Kentucky cornerback Prince Charles Iworah was another player I mentioned in the lead-up to Pro Day and he was the star of his workout. Iworah measured a shade under 5-10 then ran the 40 in the low 4.3s. He was considered a reject by scouts prior to the season, but the buzz making the rounds is Iworah could land in the fourth round.

I highly doubt Iworah goes mid rounds. He has blazing straight line speed. But his cone and shuttle times weren't that great. He would have ranked at or near bottom in all of those at the combine. He doesn't have the best cutting or change of space speed. I could be wrong I just don't see it. If he gets drafted at all I would say 7th round. But he is most likely an UDFA signee.

If any other WKU player worked his way into the draft it's George Fant. He most likely is an UDFA pick up also. But a team may spend a 7th round on him to lock him up. His measurables were insane at WKU pro day for a guy his size.

Vernon Butler has been invited to the draft and holds the distinction of being the only G5 player invited this year.

Both had great Pro Days at USM last week. Here is a good article on Mike Thomas.

Well, it took all the way to the last pick, but I had it right.
