So Comey stated 147 agents were working the case (A very specific number). Now an "unnamed source" said that number was exaggerated, and that source said this to Politico.

Hmmm, who do I believe? A lawmaker quoting the Director of the FBI or some rando who told Politico something. Argh, this is so haaaard.

Well Comey hasn't called the lawmaker a liar, or in any way revised the actual number to anyone else, so it seems like party affiliation doesn't really matter now, does it?

No actually we don't know that Comey said that at all. An unnamed member of congress claims that Comey told him that. So both sources are unnamed. The original Washington Post story filtered through three people, Comey to congressman to Washington post which leaves a lot of room for either intentional or unintentional screwing up of the information. The Politico story is just slightly better going from FBI source to Politico.

But whatever. I was just offering some additional information. Do with it what you want.
