Thank Goodness
Thank goodness Bowen is our AD and understands what Villanova doesn't!

It's all about football! I don't understand why Villanova cares about having a good bball program!

Villanova fans disagree.

They also said to call them when Memphis football turns a profit.

Which sport at this university funds every other sport, including football? At least up to this point...

And was doing so good the only reason we got invited to another conference was because Fred Smith gave them 10 million

We don't live in a perfect world yet where football is king. Gonna take some time...

I don't understand the argument of just let basketball go down the toilet. What in the crap is wrong with trying to win in both. News flash---if we had a real basketball coach we would be winning in BOTH sports.

Football could be 1 or 2 seasons away and not getting in the Big12(which in all likelihood possible) from being irrelevant..(season ticket holder)..We have had what 3 or 4 years success in the last 40 years.. Whereas Basketball the only money maker and relevancy for the University is being destroyed by giving the most inept Coach the stupidest contract in the history of sports.. I know FB is the driving force these days but if we do not get in a P5 Conference the next go around FB will die quickly and the UofM would have destroyed the one true program that has kept their athletics a float for many many years..

Killing basketball for football will gone down as the second worst strategic decision at our university.

First will always be pastners contract but one really begets the other.

RE: Thank Goodness
You guys realize we're paying our BASKETBALL staff at a top 15 level, right? Football is not even close. We have just diverted some money into football that should have been there all along. We neglected football for many years. And have been left behind in the conference promotions as a result. So what if basketball has to fly commercial on some recruiting gigs. Football has been recruiting from their cars.

To act like we're de-funding basketball altogether is just misleading yourselves. We got a coaching problem. If you're paying Archie Miller the same staff salaries, and funding the program the same way, this is a non-issue.

And do you think that IF we're not going to bite the bullet and eat up $20M in salary for basketball for the next 4 years, this is evidence that we're killing basketball? Get real. This is not budget cutting. It's necessity.

I'll tell you what the necessity is. It's to FIRE Josh's no coaching program killing butt. Then guess what both sports can succeed
