I've pretty much run out of steam using Pastner as a punching bag. Until something else happens to stir things up I'm just not that interested.

I think he's here for two more years; whatever that means or doesn't mean.

it means I have to think of something else to do during college basketball season until Paz is gone.

Not sure Stanford is the best place for Haase...as his college career included coaching at maybe the 3 weakest/easiest programs in the country to bring in risky academic recruits:
Kansas
UNC
UAB

He won't be able to do that at Stanford...but he will have an experienced squad for the next 2 years or so (5 out of the top 6 scorers were underclassmen, most being Soph and Freshmen).

Hang in there. I'm sure you have a second wind coming. You got the rest of season and all summer. Pace yourself and you will make it.

What if we go 7-5 or 8-4 in football. That's just fine for football and will get no complaints from me but it's not the same as having basketball nationally ranked and making deep runs in the NCAA Tournament.

To get to that level football would have to make an access bowl every 3-4 years and be in play right to the end another one of those years. 9-3 was fun but all we got for it was the Birmingham Bowl against a .500 Auburn team.

We beat Mississippi and they also went 9-3 but got a trip to the Sugar Bowl.

Because Mike Davis got UAB in hot water with the APR he had a higher standard to meet academically. He did not being in any fishy academic recruits and cleared up the APR mess. I don't know where you got that UAB brought in risky academic students.

Because of that, he fits well with Stanford

Like you say, the odds are stacked against any G5 in football, far moreso than in bball. For that matter, in football within the P5 things are still stacked somewhat against many teams--and also way more than they are in basketball.

So, given that context I think shooting for a consistently ranked football team, national exposure, and consideration for the access bowl, while not exactly the same as basketball, is a pretty close approximation to making the Sweet Sixteen imho. In terms of my sports satisfaction, at least as good.

UAB and UCF fans come from far and wide to argue with each other.
