Haase to Stanford Rumor
Gary Parrish of CBS Sports is reporting Coach Haase is among the leaders for the Stanford opening. He states Haase has already spoken with Stanford officials.

RE: Haase to Stanford Rumor
Wasn't expecting the Haase coaching rumors to start swirling like this yet. I figured we were safe since we missed the tournament.

I love Haase, but, I'd be PISSED if I'm a Stanford donor. Haase has two 20 win seasons. That's it. It's freaking Stanford we are talking about here.

A win in the NCAA tournament will get you some notice though. I'm guessing he's selling/they're thinking we should have been the NCAA tournament this year, but got bid by being a one bid league. Plus his hometown is close by. 03-hissyfit

I don't think Dawkins had any head coaching experience when Stanford hired him...

Good point. He was Coach K.'s assistant.

RE: Haase to Stanford Rumor
My thoughts:

Haase would crawl to Stanford for that job. I think he'd be a pretty good fit there. He is a good recruiter and runs a clean program. Helps he is from that part of the country.
I ultimately don't believe he will be offered the job. I think he will interview.
One more successful season, meaning a final 4 in the NIT or NCAA tournament birth will likely result in Haase leaving. I anticipate this to take place next off season.
If Coach Haase were to leave, I'd rather it be this off season instead of next. I believe most of the team would stay. Nick Norton, in my opinion, would stay and help convince others to do the same. One of our recruits who is signed is from Birmingham so we would have an ok shot keeping him. Next off season will be when we have a handful graduating and a handful of recruits who could back out of their LOIs w/ a coaching change. It would be a little more difficult to bounce back as quickly.
Chattanooga lost their Coach and has kept momentum. Iowa State has done the same. Hope when we do lose Haase we will bring in a solid replacement. I'd be happy with Assistant Coach Rob Ehsan if Haase left this summer. Although I believe Ingram would ultimately want his own guy.

Hoping Coach Haase stays a Blazer forever. He is a good man and a promising young coach.

RE: Haase to Stanford Rumor
This isn't good news. Stanford is a pretty solid basketball program, and the fact that he has spoken to them means he is interested. I really thought he would see out the Lee class. If he leaves I wonder what the heck we will do. None of our boosters trust any of the people in charge right now.

Can you blame him? He can't get s decent schedule here. The margin of error for making the tournament is razor thin. The president and AD who hired him are no longer here and he puts a good product on the floor and no one shows up.

RE: Haase to Stanford Rumor
It begins. I think that Stanford is exactly the sort of program that could hire Haase away. P5 job, not a bottom feeder, solid history, and near where he came from to boot. They might not offer him, or he might not take the job, but it is beyond a doubt a step up and it fits his profile.

Time to pray, guys.

Just read the Parrish article. As much as I'd hate to lose Brevin Knight on the Grizzlies broadcast, I hope they go that direction. Knight is very sharp and would make a good coach. Though I can't see him being hired with no coaching experience.

That is the dumbest idea I've ever seen floated around. They want to hire him for name recognition(like kids these days know who he is) and then build a staff around him made of former head coaches. It makes zero sense. But I hope that's the direction they move in.

Haase is already crawling - in fact already played his ace card

It is reported that Coach Williams called to Stanford for Haase (not just acting as a reference

A million dollar a year salary for a million dollar a year salary. Hmm? What is the incentive?

Haase to Stanford Rumor
Haase is a California native right? I could see him taking the job if offered. I like him and hope he stays but again may be difficult to fight an offer for him to go back home and play in a solid league. I also agree that if he's going to leave I'd rather it be this offseason so we can continue to build from his recruits and to allow any new coach the chance to get in early on recruiting since we will lose a lot in the next 2 years or so.

He started his college play at Cal, he's from Lake Tahoe, he's a West Coast guy. Why wouldn't he take the Stanford gig if he could land it? It's a top 20 job in my book.
