I would be all for this... I've always been for a tournament, if not 68 then something like FCS does at 24 teams or 32 to help the smaller schools, but recently player safety has come to mind. With Coach Leach's suggestion of shortening the season to 10 games, I like it. 68 still seems like too much especially if the playoffs go for 6 week, but I'm sure there is a way to make this work.

16 would suffice, but with Bowls holding the money, it's not likely to happen.

Seriously, a 16, 24, or 32 team tournament would be so awesome for football.

18-19% of the D1 basketball teams get into the NCAA tournament every year so at least a 16 team (12-13%) tournament would be respectable for football.

As much as I love the idea of a 16-team playoff, I think 12 is the most we'll ever see.

We'll probably see six sooner or later, but if that's the case I'd almost prefer a seven-team playoff with a first round game between the top two G5 programs... otherwise the committee will exclusively give that sixth spot to Notre Dame or the AAC.

I think the P5--and therefore the CFB Playoff Committee--will be very careful to not treat the AAC like one of their own for fear that someday, in a lawsuit far, far away, it could come back to haunt them. Kind of like Microsoft and their contractor/employee situation a while back. If you treat them like one, they are one.

Personally, I would love that. At least this wouldn't turn out to be a love fest of the Cabal against another Cabal school. It would legitimately be a REAL championship game.

Another thing, there would be a LOT of happy bowl committees because they would be hosting an "important" game which I am sure would be well attended, thus more tourists and tourist money.

But, I doubt the Cabal and its lackey the Ncaa would go for this. It's all about keeping the money and status quo and with a system like this there would be a more even playing field because there wouldn't be a need to go to any Cabal school if you can get to the same place by playing for a poorer school.

The AAC? LOL. Based on what precedent? Roy Kramer & Co. Have always done everything to turn away anyone looking to be included. They effectively sent the Big East packing and now you think they will just invite the AAC which is CUSA from 2005 minus a few teams?

Come on in. Want to eat my dinner? Sit in my chair? Pet my dog? Bang my wife? Roy Kramer & Co. Have a long history of segregation not inclusion. The fact that there is an "access" bowl is a freakin miracle. I would love a larger than 4 team playoff but even then I seriously doubt that "we" (CUSA, AAC, MTN WEST, MAC, & Sun Belt) get auto access.

I'm not saying the AAC will officially be the sixth power conference, but if the G5 manages to get a seat at the table for its best conference champion, the CFP committee will default to the AAC more often than not. They may not be accepted into the P5, but they'll be the P5's "preferred partner" if they have to choose one.
