I want you to imagine your local high school track around the local football field. Double the width of that track and change it's surface to very sticky form of dirt from the bottom of the Mississippi river. Bank the turns of that track at 30 degrees.

How imagine driving around that track in your 3000 pound street car with it's 185-200 horse power. I figure you could have a decent time doing it.

Now take away your street car and replace it with a small car weighing only about 1300 pounds but having 700 horse power, no fenders and a wheel base of around 100 inches. Most likely you would need some device to hold you on the ground such as a reversed air foil. Designed to push you downwards and keeping you on the ground. I figure in trained hands a car such as this could travel that track in around 12 seconds/

Next take 23 more cars just like that one and place it on that same small track at the same time., Then run these cars for 50 laps at 12 seconds per lap. Very likely you would find yourself in the middle of other cars the entire time. Where you must look ahead and make decisions on which way to go to keep from crashing into another car or the fence surrounding that track. One mistake and you could find yourself flying though the air flipping over and over.

Thing is you do not have to imagine this. That is what is going on next Saturday night at the 8th annual Rock and Roll 50 at Riverside Speedway in West Memphis. Who knows get there early enough you could be sitting in the same seat which a truck driver from Memphis and his parents sat when they visited the facility. One Elvis Aron Presley.

I grew up visiting two such dirt tracks, one in Greenville, MS and the other just west of Little Rock, where Burt Reynolds shot a movie.

Loved watching those races.

And I appreciate the way you spelled Aron, it's a huge controversy.
