Would BGSU be good for the NCHC? The three MAC hockey teams in one conference would be interesting if UNO goes.
Although not likely due to costs, but I wouldn't mind Ferris joining the NCHC... They've always been very competitive, they have a hall of fame coach and could provide a more local in conference rivalry. Just a thought.
Ferris is wiser than that. Really no benefit to join the nchc, and they have foresight of seeing how wonderfully it has worked out for WMU.

UNO would jump at opportunity to be in B10. Big $, and schools everyone will want to come to home games for, especially when UNO has a better team than most of them. It would be a great move, except to the extent that other non hockey B10 schools jump on the hockey bandwagon and the conference decides it's has enough losing to little UNO and kicks their butts out in six years.

UNO is a part of the University of Nebraska system with Nebraska-Lincoln. You could say that there is a distant connection with the big already. I'm guessing most Nebraska-Lincoln fans would root for UNO in hockey and UNO fans root for Nebraska-Lincoln in football.

I am sure you are correct, but they are still very distinct schools, much like UM and UM Flint are separate.
It will be interesting to see how things get reshuffled the next few years in college hockey. There are the "haves" and the "have nots", and even there it gets broken down, as the biggest named schools, like the B10 schools and Notre Dame will still bring more people to rinks than the genuine power schools in term of quality, like North Dakota, Denver, Duluth, and others. If you walk in to a BWW, more people would rather watch Wisconsin v Ohio State than North Dakota v St Cloud, and that's the type of thing that drives the engine.
Being in the best league gets you very little except a much more difficult schedule, no opportunities to go on a good run of wins, which is critical for a good season. My position on this is no secret so I will just say that I would love to shuffle the cards and get a new hand. I hope the mix up is big time.
