Jeff Jackson opined about HE being an unfit league for their program. He got his wish.

Arizona St will probably be announced soon.

Had hoped Notre Dame and Ariz St would join the NCHC, but not high profile enough.

Now the question is who will replace Notre Dame in HE?

Would think Quinnipiac or RPI would be the top candidates.

RIT will be the replacement choice for the ECAC.

Maybe now is the time to get going on a CCHA revival. It would be much more fun if Miami and Western Michigan joined us.

BGSU will start the new CCHA with this crew:

BGSU
Canisius
Niagara
Mercyhurst
Robert Morris
Ferris St
Illinois St or Lindenwood
UAH

Given the years and years of resentment between Notre Dame and the Big Ten, this is a bit of a surprise. You have to wonder, if, down the road, this opens the door to Notre Dame joining in all sports.

It could. With networks being sued by players, I totally see more networks getting involved. No reason for nbc to be left out.

Is this a guess, or something more than a guess?

It seems to me Lake Superior State would at least consider going back to a revived CCHA, given the history (they were practically a charter member along with Bowling Green). But you probably have more insights on this than I do. Also, there is the geography.

Unless that comes with at least a wink and a nod to full BiG membership, why on earth would they consider that?

Lake Superior St could be involved, but if they are, why not N Mich and Mich Tech too?

When the CCHA dissolved, someone with BGSU said a new CCHA is premature. Suspect the right time is approaching. RIT's coach said something about a breakup of AHA and a new CCHA within the last year.

AHA has schools wanting to start hockey, and that's the appropriate league to do it.

B1G hockey wanted a NYC star presence. ND will do without UConn.

Agreed. I find this completely surprising by ND, but less surprising than say UConn leaving a geographically friendly league that's tops in the sport for an associate membership in a less geographically friendly conference that may never take them for everything else. For ND from a travel time and travel costs standpoint I get it. They can bus to Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State. They'd have to fly to the other 3 with the possible exception of Wisconsin. Now they have to fly for every single league game.

RE: ND to join the Big Ten
Could Miami U be heading for B1G hockey? Ariz St may want UNLV and PAC schools to grow with, and that is not possible with B1G hockey. Miami has the facilities and program to compete.

B1G hockey has proved that hockey fans are very regional and want local trips. ND just showed that.

Notre Dame used to belong to the WCHA with Minnie, Mich, MSU, and Wisconsin as well as UND, Duluth, Mich Tech, Denver, and CC. But then again, there wasn't much choice in the matter until the CCHA started.
