Given that we just landed another point guard, I'm guessing Rogers gets the ax.

Hmmm...a JUCO PG...wonder if that means TK is worried that Justin Roberts won't really sign his letter of intent and needed some insurance? Or am I (hopefully) reading too much into this?

This tells me that Coach K wants to make sure he has a point guard who can play right away because there is no guarantee that Justin Roberts will be ready to start right away as a true freshman. Not every freshman point guard can be Juice Brown. Coach K recognizes that they need better point guard play and he is adding multiple point guards to accomplish that.

Rogers got a fair number of minutes- I see White as a more likely candidate. Ad way is possible although his sheer size gives him a bigger potential upside than either White or Rogers.

It's one thing if a player decides that this isn't a good fit for them...a bit more disappointing when we spend 1-2 years scouting & recruiting a player, then offering them a scholarship, and then deciding after a season that it wasn't a good decision. That's not all on the player. Who's doing our scouting of recruits?

As for Adway in particular, I wish he could have received more playing time this season, since he wasn't red-shirted. Guy looks like a basketball player during warm-ups, that's for sure. Seemed more athletic than a few other low-post players we have on the roster for next season. If he were to leave, after making sure we've filled our PG needs I think we would need a 6'8" or so replacement for him over yet another shooting guard.

Coach K saw Adway in the gym when he was an 8th grader while looking at Juice Brown in high school. So in this case Coach K scouted him for 5 years before coming to Toledo. He will stay......

We're too slow and too short. We need 2 centers, 2 PF, 3 WF (that's 7 bigs), 2 PG and 4 SG. This past season we played 3 bigs on a regular basis.

Didn't Stan always say the MAC was a guard league. Oh never mind

From that video, it doesn't seem like pushing the ball into the lane instead of passing it back & forth on the perimeter will be a problem with him at PG. Does look like he has a quick first step. I'm not sure MAC teams will let him get to the basket quite so easily, so I was glad to see a few assist passes sprinkled into that video. All in all, hard to argue that he wouldn't be an upgrade at that position for us next season.

Gotta develop into a team that's tough on defense and the boards in March (something we have yet to see a coach K team accomplish). We could use a good defensive minded asst coach, imo, with some vision for how the team will evolve over the season.

Great point. Late in games this year teams amped up the D on Boothe further and JJ nearly always took that as his cue to take over individually. That led to some great performances and a lot of ill-advised, out-of-control offensive plays. There was no one else to provide what you mention above. I think we'll be a much more versatile team offensively next year, with four or five guys who won't be afraid to put it up in crunch time.

For those of you talking about mediocrity it is obvious that Coach K is not accepting it or he would not be still looking for players.

Well, that explains the aggressive search for a point guard. It's unusual for a guy to transfer when he's getting good minutes but clearly isn't good enough to move up to a better conference.

RE: UT Men's Basketball Offer JUCO Pair for 2016
My initial take on Dzierzawski.

1) First black dude name Dzierzawski I've seen, guessing he's mixed w polish or something.
2) I've always preferred pgs who take it to the basket until someone stops you. Not sure how much of it is the juco "defense" but he sure likes to attack. I could see him and Jonjon putting a lot of pressure on teams in transition d. Too bad we won't have Boothe around to throw more of those laser outlet passes.
3) Not a big kid. Quick, but thin and not a leaper. Will have some adjustment to make in terms of the physical nature of D1 vs Juco defense.
4) Doesn't strike me as a shooter but more of a scorer. Reminds me of NIU's guard Baker a bit.
5) Will need to learn to avoid the charge. Really fearless attacking the rim and at the MAC level will find more clever defenders who will slide in and take a charge. May need to add a floater, eurostep or side step move to avoid charges. In the MAC one guy will move in for the charge and another will go for the block.
6) Ballhandling looks average. Seems like he gets by people with quickness and decisiveness as much as handles.
7) Complements Roberts who is a long range shooter and fundamentally sound PG. Very different players.
8) Who's the giant with the crazy vertical on his team? That guy seems like a sure D1 prospect on dunking ability alone.

That is a big surprise.

He's not a PG. Too streaky to be a SG. Wasn't our best defender. But the guy rebounded strongly for his size. And, in the right match-up, he did score. Thought that he would flourish more coming off the bench next season. His transfer would be a step back unless new guys all step it up.

Bummed to hear that Stuckey is leaving the program, he had his moments, both good and bad, but he was a decent contributor. As mentioned above, i am not sure he was a point guard, but did score at times, and was a solid rebounder.
