Should hear something within the next week or so.
Per an interview with the USM AD @ 24 min mark:
Quote:Our television partners in Conference USA have until or about April 1st to choose the games within the conference that they want to televise.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g-HaziV...e=youtu.be
At the very least, the network partners will be revealed when weeknight dates are released.

So far, the best offer has been a five day vacation on Carnival Cruise lines, a $50 Applebee's gift card and a one-year enrollment in the Jelly of the Month club.

So, does that mean I need to break down and put another app on my mobile device and subsequently relinquish all of my contacts, images/videos, data, and other personal information...?
Welp ...
Might as well go out and buy an antenna and amplifier for my tinfoil hat...cuz I'm not missing USM play if that's my only option.

Someone is paying for MAC content, and I don't think it's a difficult case to make that CUSA brands/fanbases/markets are stronger than theirs. I'll be very disappointed in the CUSA leadership if we don't wind up with a package as good or better than the MAC.

Is that for each school? Not really a bad deal. :)

Prepare to be disappointed. The MAC has leverage with MACtion. Until CUSA is willing to play at any time in the week, they will have that leverage.

And they can keep it. It's not worth the money if you have any kind of fan base, as the MAC schools who are developing theirs are learning.
People who think these off-night games are a viable option root for schools who have either never done it or have done it and managed to escape it to never return.

I haven't followed this that closely. For those that have, what are the realistic expectations/possibilities of the new deal?

Nope, divided 14 ways. And you got to sit through a 6 hour high-pressure sales presentation for the cruise. Enjoy your riblets.

I agree, except maybe for Friday night games. Schools should make more money off of 20,000+ tickets sold on a weekend than the media rights would give us for a TV game on a Wed. at 5pm or something. Loyal, long term fan bases are built through in person game attendance more so than TV. Of course the best option is both.

RE: OT: BIG starts TV rights bidding talks...
I can't speak for any other member schools, but Friday night games hurt us because of high school football. In the Huntington Metro area there are 8 football playing high schools: Huntington High, Cabell Midland, Spring Valley, Chesapeake, Fairland, and South Point. And I'll stretch it a bit and include Wayne and Tolsia.
While games on Friday night can be done, historically more often than not, they hurt attendance.

Incorrect. USM, UTEP, Rice, and Marshall have solid brands. MTSU and WKU don't have that level of brand awareness yet, but if their programs continue to play at a high level and they will.
In contrast, Florida International sounds like a made up school from a bad SNL skit so that's a negative.
