For all of our sakes, I hope he's not from the Missouri Valley Conference.

THAT'S an impressive hire. Surprising we could land someone of that caliber.

He had to take a pay cut to come Here I would imagine. He was the recruiting coordinator at Wisconsin couple of years ago. Wonder if he will assume other duties at NIU

Curious. So you're telling me Bostad is coming to NIU to do...what, exactly? He was a position coach at a P5 in Madison, then became an OC at another P5 in Pittsburgh, then went on to two NFL position coach jobs.

He's still relatively young, so I'm not sure how a stop in DeKalb at this point would benefit his career trajectory. Unless it is the head coach position, there is nothing at NIU that makes any sense for Bodick.

Can you imagine? You go from game planning to play the New England Patriots in front of 70K in Foxboro to game planning for Eastern Michigan in front of 3K in Ypsalanti, lol.

RE: NEW COACH BOB BOSTAD
He would know SF from Wisconsin and possibly know Carey from his time at UW Stevens Point (Bostad). But what does he do? If he was oline coach that would be a great get for recruiting Olineman. Does Tripodi get moved?, leave? Probably creates a few more questions for the uninformed than it answers.

How do you get that from my post? I'm not excited at all - I think this is a bad hire if it is true. I'm simply talking human nature. There is no way Bodick is excited or challenged with this job. This man has been at the pinnacle of his profession and now (apparently) has accepted a position that he likely feels is below his ability level. He has to feel that way. The man is a competitor and no competitive person would be happy to go from the NFL to the MAC.

I would prefer to see NIU bring in coaches that are hungry and excited for new challenges. I wonder how he will feel about working with group of five athletes, inexperienced coaches, and subpar facilities. I would just be surprised if some entitlement didn't creep in.

You seem to be pretty ready to label him without knowing any of the things that are going on for him personally lol

From 3 days ago...

Dan Hatman’s Free Agent Coaches All Star Team (NFL)

Assistant Offensive Line –Bob Bostad

Bostad brings 20 years of college coaching experience, the majority of which was with New Mexico St and Wisconsin. He has coached in the NFL for the last four seasons, two with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the most recently with the Tennessee Titans, where he coached Taylor Lewan to All-Rookie honors. While coaching in college he helped develop many future NFL offensive lineman like Gabe Carimi, Kevin Zeitler, and Travis Frederick.
