Sucks to be the kid who got shot, but full recovery and no charges. Just a warning to everyone to (please!) not fire blindly at someone, I guess.

Would it not be logical to also allow everyone to carry concealed weapons inside the State Capitol? What is good for the goose and good for the gander.

Both students are finished with their playing careers and live in off campus housing. The gun was legally purchased. Pratt is already home and expected to have a complete recovery.

I don't think anybody disputed the facts. It's just that the facts were so stupid and avoidable.

Or the floor of the convention in Cleveland.

Is there any professional sports arenas in the U.S. that allow people to carry guns? I just assumed it was that way everywhere.

No one suggested grabbing anyone's guns either but I hate to ruin a good pro-gun anti-gun rant with facts.

Better yet, don't enter someone else's apartment unannounced at 3 a.m.

Dude could have been 6 ft. under right now for that indiscretion.

In a positive story about an Akron athlete shooting something, the first Akron player ever shot the low 4-round score at the MAC championship to become medalist.

It's not always bad news!

Thanks for the compliments! Akron sweeps both the Mens and Womens medalist titles.

Quote:– Sophomore George Baylis (Ascot, England) became the first Akron men's golfer in program history to win medalist honors at the Mid-American Conference Championship. Baylis carded a 4-under par 67 final round score en route to a 1-under par 283 stroke tournament win at the par 71, 6,712-yard Highland Meadows Golf Club on Saturday.

At the conclusion of the MAC Championship, the league announced the yearly awards as Baylis was honored with First-Team All-MAC accolades and MAC All-Tournament Team honors.

Quote:Akron, Ohio – Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio), a freshman on the women’s golf team, was named the Zips’ Student-Athlete of the Week on April 25, presented by The University of Akron.

In her first Mid-American Conference Championship event, Nicholson debuted with a dominating performance, leading the field for three rounds en route to winning medalist honors, and becoming Akron’s first individual MAC Champion ever.

Nicholson tied the program’s single round low-score record of 3-under 69 to open the MAC Championship on Friday, April 22. After the 18-hole round, she shared first place on the leaderboard with Toledo's Manisa Isavas.

During the second round, Nicholson played solidly, finishing with a 1-under par 71 tally. After 36-holes, she earned sole possession of the top spot on the leaderboard with a 4-under 140 stroke total.

On Sunday's final round, Nicholson carded seven pars and a pair of bogeys on the front-9. However, she responded with six pars and three birdies for a third-straight under-par performance. Nicholson finished the final 18 holes with a 71 (-1), brining her tournament total to 5-under on 211 strokes.

The 211 (-5) tournament total secured Akron’s first individual title and is the Zips' all-time lowest 54-hole total score.

In addition to the MAC Individual Championship, Nicholson earned First-Team All-MAC accolades, the MAC Freshman of the Year award, and the MAC All-Tournament Team honors. She finished her freshman campaign ranked in the Top 10 of the MAC’s scoring average, finishing 8th overall with a 74.96 strokes.
