We won't have anyone like Burrell

So, in what world could we actually be pretty good?
We do lose much talent with Shaq and Burrell. But their leadertship and chemistry problems that they created will not be missed. Lawson can step up and fill some of that role. We badly need someone that has a real will to win.
Sounds like the same thing we heard when Spoon, Joe and Crawford left
Hmmm, I don't remember hearing that. And they also won a good bit. So yep, we could use those guys again. There has been quite the drop off since JJ, CC and Geron Johnson left.

Without Joe Jackson--Josh is 0-7 in going to NCAA tournaments

In hindsight Joe should have transferred during his sophomore year and Pastner would have been let go 4 years ago.

0-3 right? With Joe and Crawford, Pastner has gone to 4 tourneys and won two games; without them he has been to none in three seasons.

I think you are wrong on this one. Moe Iba's 69/70 season of 6-20 is the worst I could come up with.

I think Josh schedules easy non-conference teams to get the win column up and squeaks across the line with a barely winning record. Mediocre doesn't get him fired. I don't see Josh being let go after the 16-17 season unless it is absolutely horrible.

Nothing but an NCAA run is acceptable in year 8.
Not sure what "better" than I think has anything to do with it - I expect them to miss postseaon play for the third straight year, but they make it to the NIT?

I saw those team and had a friend play on it. Penny's East team would beat it unless James Douglas scored 40. With a shot clock it would not have won a game. That being said, times are different and staring a 10-21 year is basically the same thing and you don't have Finch and Robinson coming in to change the program.

And the first time in modern history we've had 3 straight years without post-season play - I believe.
Pastner couldn't squeeze out 18 wins this season with a NCAA-quality roster. What makes you think he's going to do better with a significantly worse one.
Well we actually won 19, so there's that.
So not better, just not much different. Past 2 years 19 wins and 18 I think. Pretty much the same next year. You're almost guaranteed 15 wins. Then we lose about 3 we shouldn't and we win 3 50/50 games.

I'm having trouble seeing who will be there to play for Pastner, unless they get encouraged. We are talking about Avery possibly high tailing it outta here, even.
We are now reduced to begging Avery Woodson to put on Tiger uni....?
Holy crap that sux.
Without all the people whose last name starts with L and M we are in supreme trouble.

I'm not the Josh hater that many others are--more of a glass half-full type--but on the surface, it does appear that next year's Tigers could struggle big time. Significant player losses with possibly more to come, and not nearly enough talent to cover the departures--at least not yet. Hoping for the best, but fearing the worst.
Either way, I'll be watching.....

I don't know too many Josh haters, Hoots.
Most just think he can't coach a lick and is destroying the program. They don't hate the man personally, just the subpar job he is doing.

You're in for a rude awakening next year. Do you really think we're replacing Dedric, Woodson, Shaq, Tarrant, and Burrell with equivalent talent? And yes, Dedric and Woodson are gone.

And I think most of us who consider ourselves optimists get that. No one is happy with how the last two seasons played out - maybe we all have varying degrees of disappointment / anger. But it is hard to even discuss Tiger basketball when those coming down hardest on Josh consistently resort to hyperbole, worst case scenarios, misinformation, and name calling. Reread this one thread and you see that we will have the worst season ever (which we won't), that Spoon, JJ, and Crawford "left" (graduated / exhausted their eligibility), and that Pastner couldn't win 18 games with last year's team (when he won 19). People who aren't necessarily looking to defend Josh still seem to find themselves mopping up the mess that every thread seems to turn into.
