They have a better coach. And they have players that are able to step up their games against quality competition.

They have a fantastic coach and they play in a very poor league. Think about Memphis if they were still in CUSA, they make the tournament every year.

They have a great coach that has his system, recruits players for that system and has a lot of four year players.

Maybe, maybe not.

MTSU looked real good.

All of this fuss about conference affiliation and being in the Big 12 is nonsense for basketball success. I do not see why Basketball has to suffer in order for football to be good. Basketball simply needs to ran competently in Memphis, it is will be wildly successful, with a national title merely a matter of (short) time. Yet, the few football first , "SEC homers" in Memphis think that tanking Basketball for football improvement is worth these waste. It clearly isn't, as Gonzaga's example shows us.

MTSU looked real good.

Considering we finished behind 3 of our former CUSA mates that we once dominated

All of the above. I went with Tigers to Gonzaga, Several years back. When we won up there last. The whole town of Spokane is all about the Zags. It's a really cool thing. Similar to an SEC town on Football game day. And a future Hall of Fame coach who picks his recruiting battles wisely. Always been a huge fan of Mark Few and that program

They have no final fours, something Memphis does not have. They have a losing record head to head, something Memphis does not have. And against the worst coach in history, as many would argue, they have a .500 record. So that they share.

Agreed with that. Most teams get the same type of looks game by game. Especially the spot up shots. The teams advancing now are the teams that make them when the pressure is on. I don't think our players believe in what they are being coached to do enough to deliver consistently when the pressure is on. That points to the coach's. But the players still have to execute and deliver when the heat is on. For the past 7 years, everything we do in crunch time seems to be 'created on the fly'.
