*Six* Sweet 16 teams and counting? That's SEC football level dominance.

New record for most teams in the Sweet 16 from a single conference: 6

No doubt the road gets MUCH tougher next weekend.

The counting is done. Maryland-Hawaii, Xavier-Wisconsin, Oregon-ST Joes, A&M-UNI are not sending any more ACC teams to teh Sweet 16, barring late-breaking realignment news.

They have 15 schools in a basketball tradition rich conference, of course they should have a bunch of teams this far.

Maryland back to the ACC? Especially just for bragging rights?

The ACC should get 1/2 a team credit with Maryland...just saying 04-cheers

Yeah, but only 14 schools were eligible for the tourney as Louisville self imposed a ban on themselves. The Acc got 7 (half its teams) in the tourney and only lost one game. The league that set the original record for most teams to advance to the Sweet 16 was the BE, which had 16 eligible teams. For the ACC to get 6 to advance with only 14 eligible teams is remarkable no matter how you look at it. Its possible that it could have been more with a top 15 ranked Louisville.

6 in the Sweet 16, and an outside shot at matching 1985 3 in the Final Four. With the No. 1 seed and a backup, the ACC is more likely than not to take the East and Midwest, and has entries in the South and West.

Like I said, I wish SMU wasn't banned.

I think the 3 F4 teams from the old BE record is safe...but...stranger things have happened. The best scenario is the ACC sets up two all ACC Elite 8 games and Duke or Miami could make a F4 run. That said I think 2 F4 teams sound about right.

FIFY...net result...I think UL was a better team than SMU

RE: BEST and Worst conference performance in NCAA tourney so far
it's weird- I think the Big 12 has the better shot to get the 3 teams in the final 4....

Kansas and Oklahoma are pretty big favorites in their regions. And if Iowa St can beat UVA, they have a real good shot at it. Only beating Syracuse or Gonzaga.

2 is most likely. But 3 is just as probable as an ACC flameout.
