Smokescreen?
There are about to be a slew of jobs open. Isn't the university/isn't Pastner in a better negotiating position by declaring he is off the market?
It's not in our best interest for anyone to think the university or Josh is desperate.
Let's just see what happens right after tournament is over.

RE: Smokescreen?
Who would hire this dude?
He would not leave for a lower level program.

He would if we paid the difference. If can't be a UTSA.
But I think he would leave for a UCF or TCU type opportunity.

This thought did cross my mind also. Let all the rumors/negativity die down while CJP continues to look at other jobs in hopes that he might take one. The problem with that is, the university could miss out on the chance to hire a good coach waiting on him.

A bold and smart athletic director. With the 7 years of training he gained at our expense combined with his recruiting know-how, I think he could succeed at the right school with a fresh start.

Do you really believe this?? Or are you hoping. Hey don't get me wrong, I hope your theory becomes reality. But sitting here today feeling totally defeated and used by Rudd, Bowen, Brad Martin, Bill Laurie, and any other individuals that screwed over the massive majority---I just don't see that happening (Josh getting another job). It just truly seems like wishful thinking to me. Or a pipe dream. Again, gosh I hope you're right, and if you are...I give you mad props !!

We are talking about a 10 million dollar game of chicken. We have to play this game differently. I honestly don't think this is over.
