Cinderella was first referred to a team in the tourney that had a losing regular season record and won their confrence tourney. They enter the NCAA Tourney with a sub .500 record and go on and win their first game in the NCAA Tourney. This term was used for both P-5 and G-5 schools

Now they only use the term for any mid major that upsets a higher seed. You are not a cinderella if you are a 26-5 team and win your first game.

Cinderella implies you have been losing all year.

NOW STUFF THAT TERM

It never ends all of "these terms" to classify any school in not in a P5 conference as a lesser program.

Power 5 / Group 5
Mid-Major
Cinderella
Major Conference

All division 1 operates under the same rules and same Scholarships. (with the exception of FCS football)

But the media and the P5's have to make that distinction within Division 1.

What does all the so called upsets mean:
1. Those 13,14 and 15 seeds should have had better seeds.
2. More teams from the Conferences not named SEC, Big 10, Big 12, ACC, PAC 12, should have been invited.

UAB should have had an at large.

This is the reason the clowns made the FBS Football playoff only 4 teams. So these upsets could not happen in football.
If you design a playoff were a G-5 team could never be one of the 4 you insure that never happens.

(Boise St gave the power brokers a scare a few years back so they made sure they put a lid on that)

And don't forget the more teams you get in the tourney the more money your conference receives.
And more money for every game they win. ( MTSU just made CUSA some money, Keep winning)

Not to mention the recruiting advantage that you have. In Football you can tell a recruit that any school you are considering
that is not from a P5 conference you will have no chance of playing for a championship.

In Basketball they can say those other conferences will get only only one bid , The p-5's get 3,4,5, 6 bids

It is just so amazing how unfair the whole system is.

They should throw out RPI and Strength of Schedule and just use Conference Champion and winning %

So after this year do things Chang for the better, for the worse, or no change at all?
