Maybe those P5 leagues weren't under represented and undervalued either...especially the Pac-12. Clearly this needs to be P5 teams only. Great tourney thus far.

Really impressed by MTSU today...just took it right to Michigan St and clearly had more intensity and poise.

The Pac-12 is really bad. Granted, Cal was snakebitten, and it got a difficult draw with an under-seeded Hawai'i team, but the rest of the conference has been awful.

Nike U. is not a #1. Someone in that region is going to have a nice smooth path to Houston.

This might be the year of a Cinderella team (or several) to make it to Houston too. I picked Utah to win it all but that was merely a flip of the coin. Based on how the Pac-12 is doing so far, that's not a great pick, but Michigan State losing helps the Utes.

Mich State was my champ. Don't think I have ever lost my winner in first round before. Good win for conference. Some say biggest upset ever as MSU could have been a 1 seed.

If Gonzaga beats Utah, that will imply that St. Mary's got left out in spite of being better than almost the entire Pac 12.

We know who butters the NCAA's toast; it's just disheartening to see it confirmed over and over and over and over again.

CUSA tourney champ last year took out the Big 12 tourney champ. As a 14 seed.

CUSA tourney champ this year took out the Big 10 tourney champ. As a 15 seed.

Definitely showing stronger than seeded. Maybe the committee needs to keep this in mind in future seeding.

SFA is abusing West Virginia. As usual, the Big XII looks to be overrated.

I think western college basketball in general is in decline. Kind of the opposite of the NBA. (I know that WV is geographically in the east, but it plays in what is ostensibly a western conference.)

Big XII with what 7 or 8 teams in the tournament? P5 just keeps stacking the deck, I remember in the 90's people thought it was amazing for the ACC to get 6 teams into the tournament. Now the majority of non-P5 conferences are all mostly one bid and it seems to be getting worse every year. All of these low-seed upsets just prove that it's not quality that is determining these seedings.

We all know that the RPI sucks a measurement, but the top two RPI teams left out of the tournament have been non-P5 for the last 8 straight years.

Oklahoma struggled, in a virtual home game no less, against CSU-Bakersfield.
Texas Tech and West Virginia got dominated.
Baylor lost to Yale.

And that's just the first round. The only fearsome team in the Big XII is Kansas, and the Jayhawks' quality is seemingly never impacted by how middling the rest of the conference is. Kansas might as well not even be in that league.

But...but... Big XII is the #1 RPI conference in the NCAA! They deserved all those spots! 03-banghead

This makes me question the RPI formula. Has it been changed over the years?

RE: MTSU about to upset Michigan St
I heard this on a broadcast in passing:

The Big XII has apparently been the #1 RPI conference for the last four seasons. The announcer then mentioned the Big XII's record in the tournament during that span, and it was poor (I don't remember what it was exactly).

The Big XII isn't just overrated; it is consistently officially overrated. One sure sign that it lacks quality is that Kansas wins it every single year. Kansas wouldn't be able to pull that off in the Big Ten or the ACC.

Gotta say, the Big XII gave us one good thing this postseason. The kid was being a smart-ass, but it was funny because it just came out of the blue:

For a while during that Baylor game it looked like Dave Bliss was still at the helm although I think Drew has a lot of the same "qualities" Bliss had.

Texas loses to Northern Iowa on a buzzer-beater to finish off a dreadful Round of 64 showing (only Kansas and Oklahoma win?). The American Conference also did horribly (just UConn wins).
