Rave reviews for both Neathery & Bullough. Defense should be unrecognizable compared to last year.

Related sort of, but how much longer is the indoor practice facility going to be out of operation? Anybody know the issues involved?

Dear Friends,
I have heard that there are insurance issues that need to be cleared.

Team still not using. At this point is doesn't matter because the worst of the weather is behind us. The weather has been quite mild so luckily it hasn't been an issue.

Luckily, a totally new culture on defense. Neathery and Bullough are no nonsense guys that demand accountability. New DB coach apparently the same way. While McCaslin and Williams were good guys, last year devolved into a case of the inmates running the asylum. No fear, no accountability, no respect. New coaches have already laid down the law. Screw up your assignment, lose focus, don't put forth maximum effort.......welcome to the sidelines!
The attitude adjustment and competition is going to be just as important as the new 4 man front.
Sometimes change is good!

That sounds good ET, but I don't think our problem last year was attitude or accountability. We simply didn't have the players.

Actually don't agree with that. The missed tackles, blown assignments, and lack of effort was as much mental as physical. Sure, they weren't the most talented group, but what we saw was a total breakdown. Part coaching, part talent, part attitude.
The improvement in the defense this year will also be part coaching, part talent, and part attitude. Creighton, to his credit, took care of the coaching part, and early reviews are very positive. The talent is what it is, and will get a little boost from Juco's, returning injured players, young talent with 1 more year under their belt, and a bunch of motivated freshmen DB's that think they have a real chance to play. The attitude and accountability piece is where we'll see the biggest difference, because it's the piece that can be most controlled by the individual players and coaches.
I only say this, because it's what I'm hearing from early indications/practices.
The defense was horrible, terrible, laughable! I'm not saying we're gonna see the steel curtain next year. I'm just saying it shouldn't be the complete embarrassment we witnessed last year.

RE: How is Spring Football Going
Dear Friends,
Why is it, that every time (at least it seems like it) Eastern comes up with a great idea, we get usurped by U-M? Now I don't know who may have contacted the Lions first, but we said our practice is open to the public, free of charge. U-M, well you have to have tickets, the team will be using the Lion's locker room, and it's this Saturday. Talk about taking the wind out of our practice. Are we that big a threat to the mighty U-M?
