Wow, Northern Iowa just melted to pieces. Had a 11 point lead with 28 seconds left, and threw the ball away on 3 straight inbound plays

So aggravating. I'm not even a Northern Iowa fan, but I absolutely hate major conference basketball, and the idea that basically all major teams would be in the Sweet 16 is incredibly annoying.

Worst 40 seconds of officiating I've ever seen. Granted UNI made bad choices but the refs didn't do them any favors.

And A&M will get heaped with praise for not giving up etc, whatever. ESPN will proclaim it the greatest year of NCAA baasketball ever, etc. I just can't put up with it. There is a reason I quit watching college basketball outside of Arkansas State about a year ago. I find the big schools to be dull and filled with players more worried about the NBA then their own education.

A&M wins, Wisconsin wins.

Unless St Jospeh's beats Oregon today, I will not watch another NCAA game. I refuse to watch power conference basketball anymore

couldn't believe how Northern Iowa blew this game, a total, mental meltdown by the entire team. I hate all things SEC, and now we have to listen to the Texas AM coach tell us how he is coaching a team of destiny, and the absolute heart and desire of his team etc,..agh!!!! Starting to get pissed off all over again!!

Regardless of your SEC feelings, it was UN BEEEEE LIVEABLE. For UNI to advance to this game the way it did, and then lose the way it did.... just UN freakin' believable.
Hollywood couldn't have scripted this . . . .

And it's exactly what makes this Tournament the Best Sporting event of the year, IMHO.

It's March, Embrace the Maddness . . . .

at 5 seconds #3 of ND pushes #11 of SFA as he's going up for the rebound. Am I wrong in believing this was a missed call?

I am with Chiefsfan. Other than Gonzaga, I am done with this tournament. Xavier and Michigan State lost and the reminder are major conferences teams. Boring. Besides, I am in the Disney College Program currently. The parks are way better than inbred basketball.

It really is amazing with how upset-oriented the tourney started out that we've ended up with such a power conference infested Sweet 16. The one "mid-major" left is probably the one that gets singled out the most as "not really a mid-major."

I still think it was an awesome opening week.

I'm curious...do most of you view the Big East the same as other power conferences in the tourney? Even though they're clearly among the Power Six, would you have more interest if we had gotten Butler, Providence, and Xavier into the Sweet 16?

I would see a Butler or Providence type as like a Gonzaga. Been there before, but not regularly, and certainly not the weight of some of the P5 names. Villanova is another story entirely

I also consider UConn major for basketball purposes.

I think I'm in the same boat. Agree on UConn (and may put Cincinnati in there too), and for the Big East, it seems like anyone but Nova would make for a more interesting Sweet 16.
