RE: stevers thoughts
tough break for Xavier tonight.... folks saying Wisconsin won on a miracle shot need to remember- if he misses, the game is still going into overtime. With Wisconsin on a 14-5 run in the last 6 minutes. Absolutely no guarantee at all that x wins in ot.

So league 12-14 in tourney play last 3 years now. With 1 team left in. Going to wind up with anywhere from 10-12 units. Not great, but a better record than last year(5-6).

RE: stevers thoughts
It's funny. I hear Big East people complaining about Seton Hall's matchup with Gonzaga that Gonzaga was underseeded. Using their results as proof....

I think it goes to a question. Should teams be seeded based on what they can do, or should they be seeded based on what they have done. I mean, take PC for example. If you based it on what they can do, they would have been a 6 or 7 seed(if not higher). But if you base it on what they did do, they were a 9 seed. Folks need to remember that Gonzaga if they lose to St Mary's in the WCC tourney isn't even in the tourney.

I was thinking "Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy" when I opened the thread, but we're in the same ballpark.

RE: stevers thoughts
Seeding had nothing to do with why Seton Hall lost to Gonzaga. The Zags played better and wanted it more (not to mention Whitehead's struggles and the Denver altitude affecting the tempo of the game).

The league got five teams in - which is what the league is averaging. Getting 50% of your league in is a very impressive statistic no matter what the end results of those teams are. Xavier's loss was tough, but it doesn't change what a wonderful season they had. People shouldn't be bringing down Xavier because of one hard-fought game (which was an amazing game BTW).

I think something that impacted Seton Hall just as much as the altitude was the time of the game. Having the game start at 11pm et- an hour late- just was a killer for a young team.....

I think also Gonzaga was just a pretty bad matchup for Seton Hall.

And you are right, it was a GREAT game last night with Xavier. I really thought X was set when Reynolds got the dunk with 7 to go. But they would only get 6 more points the rest of the night.

With Dixon gone from Pitt, the coaching season is here....

I saw a list of names as a replacement and Willard from Seton Hall was on there. I wonder if we may have a situation like Cuanzo Martin from Tennessee who was on the hot seat, make the tourney, and left quickly for Cal......

RE: stevers thoughts
a few thoughts for next year....
1- the marathon I think needs to go away. next year will be hard anyways- NYE is Saturday going up against the CFP semifinals. The conference doesn't need it anyways....
2- the conference needs to schedule better OOC.
3- going to be really interesting with PC next year with no prime time guard for 1st time in Cooley's time at PC.
4- going to be a lot of pressure on X next year after the other night.

one other thing, with Dixon gone at Pitt, and Cronin maybe going to UNLV from Cincy- makes me wish JT3 would find somewhere to go from Georgetown. Like Dixon and Cronin, things have gotten stale with JT3.

Just saw that Dunn has turned pro today. Obviously no shocker at all.. One hell of a player- and from all accounts a much better person.

So have you come off your high from the PC win last night? I really hate PC being in where they are because if they were just about anywhere else in the bracket, I think they would have a really good shot at an elite 8. But even if they beat UNC, they have Kentucky or Indiana looming....
its kind of funny. I keep wanting more. first it was I hope PC is competitive. that evolved into beating top teams like Villanova, than "all I want is a 20 win season" Then all I want is to get to post season and I will be happy. "then just one win in tourney" Then "just beat UNC" and I ll be happy .. I expected to lose to unc but it was still disappointing. I guess I can turn my college focus to the PC hockey team (similar "all I want" theme and id be happy. Is a back to back NC really too much to ask for? 03-lmfao

that's probably a better comparison
