By the way, the reason why I jokingly said Jordan is the biggest UNCW fan today is because he's from Wilmington and played for Duke's arch-rival, UNC. I'll go back and give a point for the answer given.

UConn struggling today vs Colorado. Kind of tough after you've had a mountain top experience like they did to re-ignite it the following weekend. Wonder if we may see the same from Seton Hall later this evening.

UConn is probably drained from the AAC Tournament but then again, they won 5 games in 5 days to win the Big East years back on the way to a title in Houston so maybe history imitates itself.

guess maybe the MAAC wasn't all that good after all. Iona down 26-13 8 minutes into the game.

2 things-
1- much tougher 1st round game- that year they played Bucknell 1st round in a 3/14 game. Colorado 8 seed.
2- 1 fewer day of rest- BET that year ended on a Saturday. AAC tourney ended on Sunday. Pretty big difference there.

I'm reminded of 2006 Syracuse who won 4 games in 4 days where they were on the bubble, and came back vs Texas A&M in a 5/12 game and lost 1st round....

Too small of a sample size, it only has one team in the field and game isn't even close to over.

The comparison just doesn't work. Each circumstance is unique. It's not as if they had to hop on a plane across the continent and play a game within 24-48 hours.

I think the fact UConn is having to play a 8 seed 1st round, while UConn 5 years ago played a 14 seed is a HUGE difference. Playing a team with a real chance of beating them.... Also having the 1 fewer day off I'm sorry, but that's big as well...

I wouldn't mind. They are on opposite sides of the bracket....

RE: NCAA Tourney Thread- Thursday 3/17
these 1/8-9 games are going to be fun this year...
Virginia/Butler
UNC/Providence-USC
Kansas/Colorado-UConn
Oregon/St Joes-Cincy

at least 1 of the 1's is going to go down...

Barkley says:

Quote:"[Iowa State] plays in a better conference [than Iona] with better competition and they're a better team."

-Charles Barkley

Seriously, do they have any openings at Turner for studio analyst? I could have gotten on TV and said that. Thank God, Clark Kellogg is on the panel he's the saving grace from a panel that otherwise spends most nights discussing, watching and thinking about NBA games.

Barkley's worst to me was on Sunday. He said that they no longer play the Big 5 in Philly(when talking about possibly having Nova/Temple in rd 2).

LOL, Chuck with yet another general statement about something he has only passing knowledge of a few minutes ago. I'd even appreaciate a female who has never played the game on the panel if she brought something insightful to the table.

Beat me to it. That whole dead legs/fresh legs argument is not relevant unless you're playing muliple games in multiple days. And it's tournament time, other teams have played multiple games themselves.

Kansas will be next for UConn...they really shut down Colorado's Big Man. Colorado didn't help themselves with horrendous FT shooting.

RE: NCAA Tourney Thread- Thursday 3/17
so Ollie is 1st coach since Steve Fisher to win his 1st 7 NCAA tourney games as a coach.....

Hope game 8 isn't a repeat- that was the LMU/Michigan massacre where LMU scored 149 points.
