MyBB Why all the haters?
FGCU is picked to become the first #16 to upset #1... they play UNC.

Duke is picked as the most hated team [Fox Link].

RE: Why all the haters?
If UNC plays their game - no upset. However, UNC occasionally plays down to the level of their opponent.

Duke cultivates the "hated" status like other programs play up the underdog status. In Duke's case it is mostly true.

Speaking of haters... somebody's blog missed Florida State's NIT win over Davidson.

Who said anything about FSU? Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) was mentioned, not FSU.

As a Duke fan, I've become accustomed to most people rooting against Duke in the NCAA tournament. It's because Duke has been the most successful college basketball program over the last 30 years. People like to root for the underdog. Rooting for the underdog isn't the same thing as hating. There's some of the hating too but that's not what's going on for the most part.

The duke being good is certainly part of it but most of it is aimed at the whiny poor sports that seem to gravitate to Duke, Grayson Allen being the latest in a long line.

Why all the haters?
How can anyone hate Duke after Christian Laettner shot to beat kentucky? Best non Louisville moment in NCAA history! If you want to upset a kentucky fan just say Laettner or "the shot". bbn was outraged when UPS used it in their commercial a few years ago. I don't know how they ship their packages anymore, boycotting UPS & FedEx.

Laettner is just another in a long line of hated Dook players, although some are worse than others. Even the Dook fans to this day won't talk about Art Heyman because he was known to everyone as one of the biggest ***holes to ever walk the face of the earth.

I love Duke, always have. How can anyone hate Duke? They go out and get above average kids and usually beat everyone's ass doing it the right way.

I also root for UNC. Actually went out and bought a Carolina shirt after they knocked Yewkay out of the tournament a few years ago.

The only time I don't root for Duke or UNC is when they play Louisville.

I also believe Duke / UNC is best rivalry in college basketball. It frosts UK fans when I tell them the Duke / UNC rivalry involves two classy fan bases that know how to win and lose with class. UK fans don't know how to do either.

And yes I am an ACC homer.

Fair enough. I saw multiple days listed so it looked like a cumulative list. You are free to go.

I was at that game. I went up to Philadelphia with a friend and his son the day of the game without tickets. Scalpers were absurd, so we gave up and prepared to watch it in a nearby bar. We went back to the Spectrum a few minutes before tipoff, and the scalpers didn't have any more customers outside.

We paid face value for lower level seats on about the 10th row.

The shot however drove a dagger through the hearts of the kitty cats & all of their obnoxious fans. They still see the shot in their nightmares.

UConn has won the most titles in the last 20 years and they don;t get the level of hate Duke gets. Guys like Laitner and Allen are why people hate duke. Not to mention the punching hansbourough in the face. Stuff like that leads to hate.

Yeah, you would expect coach K to handle players like Laettner & Grayson Allen better.

Well, I see why UNC wasn't getting any love.
FGCU 40, UNC 41 - Halftime

I don't love Duke. I love beating Duke!! But, I respect the hell out of their basketball program & coach, and their commitment to academic excellence.
