OT: Two former Oregon Players suing University
Clifton and a couple others on here predicted this was going to start happening...

I thought this quote was interesting... It's pretty clear to me that this Title IX crap is taking away the way the rights of the "accused" in all these cases... and is putting these Universities in a lose-lose situation no matter how they handle things.

"The suit filed Tuesday accuses UO officials of ordering the long-term suspensions after engineering an unconstitutional “sham court” that deprived the players of their rights. It also asserts that the university responded to the accuser’s allegations with a series of “arbitrary, capricious, discriminatory and gender-based actions directed toward a predetermined” decision that the players would be suspended."

I think some youngsters need to study the Constitution a little better.

You are not guilty until you are proven so. Not the other way around.

Free speech is a Constitutional right.

Socialism is a bad thing. This is definitely something that they will learn when they get out in the real world and look at the deductions when they start earning some real, money. At least they will know that the money the Government takes goes to good people that will not work and expect Washington to take care of them. In their mind, that is a right too; Constitutional or not.

I am not an attorney -- there are some good ones on this board -- but, I believe this has nothing to do with the Constitution. Rather, it is about a private contract between a seller (i.e., the school) and a buyer (i.e., the student).

At the same time, a court could find that the contract was not equitable or the remedies taken were not in keeping with the contract.

Further... Our Democracy/The Constitution actually nothing to do with the economic system of the country. Let's stay well away from random political generalizations before the thread goes somewhere else.

I don't know if anyone watched the Duke Lacrosse 30 for 30 the other night, but you would have thought the media and these University's would have learned something from that case.

Those kids were no doubt guilty until proven innocent in the eyes of both the media and the Duke leadership.

Same with the Tennessee case, they look like one of the few institutions that have allowed the accused "due process" and they have been vilified for it by ESPN.

Title IX is the absolute worst thing to ever happen to college athletics.

X settled with Dez Wells. They kicked him out. But X also covered up some prior stuff and got nailed by the Feds. The Title 9 needs to be revised. Universities should not be in the business of hearing sexual assault rape claims. Especially when they set up sham no due process systems.

You are absolutely correct. It should be handled by the police, not the Universities in the first place. The whole set up is a joke. I have no problem with a player being suspended while he is under investigation. But to expel them or deny them the due process that they are entitled to is absurd.
