Same here. I wouldn't watch them if I lived across the street - I pretty much hate every aspect of it. That said, I am not against the Grizzlies and understand that in some ways they are good for Memphis (though not nearly as important as the university). For the most part, I simply don't think about them (same as NASCAR).

In "some ways" good for the city?
Please, list one reason how they're "bad" for the city of Memphis. One legitimate reason, I'd like to hear it.

Give the guy some credit. The amount of cognitive dissonance he had to go through just to let himself admit that there might be some ways that the Grizzlies are good for the city would incapacitate a normal human being.

Haha, very true. I'm just a casual observer on this board most of the time. I guess being stuck permanently in the 60's & 70's has its merits but people who want to complain about having an NBA team in Memphis blow my mind. And yes I do have season tix to the Grizz but am also a graduate of the UofM and gave up my season tickets 2 years ago because of Pastner and the direction of the program.

I'm sure he's one of the people who would like for us to play again in the Coliseum because having the Forum is such a huge detriment to the city of Memphis.

College basketball has regressed so much in the past five years it's pretty much unwatchable. The fact you would rather watch that hot garbage over the NBA now shows how little you know about the game.

I Just like the tourney and when my Tigers don't suck. Wake me up when football starts or we get a new coach.

Yup. If someone remotely knows the game of basketball and enjoys watching the sport then it's asinine to say college basketball is where it's at. Frankly I wonder if we didn't have a team to follow in our Tigers how many would actually watch college basketball outside of March Madness.

What's really asinine is to say it is "asinine" when someone has a different opinion. I played basketball in high school and prefer high school and college. Why? Because they actually call traveling in those two which almost seems legal in the NBA.

The same reason I have no interest in watching Olympic b'ball or international. That "Euro-Step" ruins it for me and is an ugly display as a result for my eyes. Again, all opinion.

Exactly!! Because I hate the NBA I don't know much about BB, give me a break!! How hard is it to understand that I don't like the NBA game, never have never will!! I never said the Grizzlies were not good for the city nor did I say I hated them being here!! It's simple really I prefer the College game, I don't like the NBA game, nothing more nothing less!!

I don't know the game because I don't like the NBA, that's a stupid statement.. Do you like bowling or shuffleboard or volleyball?? Differences of opinion!! To me the NBA is hot garbage.. I have friends who like the NBA better and some that don't!! I never said the Grizzlies weren't good for the city and just wished they would leave.. Jimminniecrickets..

Maybe it would help if you knew the rule. It's different in the NBA. You're allowed 2 steps upon completion of a dribble, so if you dribble while pushing off of one foot it is not counted toward one of your 2 allowed steps. This occurrence is more commonly referred to as taking "two-and-a-half steps", where the half step is the "gather step". This half step is what makes the majority of euro-steps look so effortless and sexy.

I have heard the same "I played ball in high school" reasons from a few and it's still asinine. I played ball in high school too and your reasoning about traveling makes no sense. It's not as if they call it in college basketball much for the elite teams. Either way if that's what defines the sport in your opinion, then it's still asinine :)

If you love the game, watching the best players in the world play it at the highest level is just beautiful. College basketball in general is pretty awful to watch outside of March Madness. IMO if all you like is high school cuz you played at one time and college ball you don't really appreciate the sport in its finest form.

Of course there is a section of the Grizz fanbase that is indifferent to the Tigers. I'd say that it might be a larger percentage than the section of the Tigers base that is indifferent to the Grizz, but not by much, and there's little I can base that feeling on.

I feel like that most people who like one like the other and that there's not really a big issue there (as far as competition goes). Both can thrive at the same time.

Yup both can thrive at the same time. Totally different audiences that go to watch the games of the respective teams.

Look, no need to get personal. It is really an absolute jack@$$ thing to tell people their preferences are "assinine" and then talk down in the next breathe.

You noted previously that those who disagree "don't know basketball". So your post brought that into it to begin with. Hard to believe that a college sports board degenerates to where multiple people are openly insulted for noting that a preference for ... oh, I don't know ... college sports.

PS, I also don't care whatsoever what "rule" another league has regarding traveling. I also noted that that extra step makes the game ugly to me. So there is that --- Opinion. Oh, and I prefer college football to NFL. I guess those of us don't "appreciate football" either. Go ahead, fire away, done with it because it is obvious you're going to have the last cotton pickin' word on this.

Don't be so sensitive. If you are going to disagree on a message board with strangers, don't get your feelings hurt when someone calls you out.

Clearly they don't watch the NBA then. The NBA is so much better. Offenses crisper, better shooting, more complex sets and defenses, better athleticism. Its better than college in every aspect. I used to say stupid things like that til I watched the NBA closely.

Watch how many teams in the NCAA tournament loll around for 15 seconds before starting a set and then throw up a desperation shot. In the NBA teams are into their set in six seconds and have multiple screens and actions all over the floor with all sorts of defensive shifts and rotations and switches. College? Not so much

I really wonder how many NBA games do folks that claim to love the game of basketball but hate the NBA watch. The offenses typically run complex sets and the defensive rotations are way superior to anything at the college level. I think some folks argue to just argue. Just saying I love college basketball and don't have time to invest watching something else makes more sense than the asinine reasons laid out by a few.

I'm not a fan of the NBA but if you watch you can't help but route for the Grizz. They play hard and rep the city well.

"do they not call traveling?" "is this a basketball game, or a dunk contest?"

I like em both.

Time has nothing to do with it.. Saying that someone likes the College game better than the NBA is asinine is just stupid.. Your only argument should be that the players are better (duh)!! I guess if someone likes College Football better than the Pro's that's asinine..

What's stupid my man is you not reading the posts here. Not liking the NBA might be understandable but many of the posts indicated the posters hated the NBA which IMO is asinine. And the reasons given were asinine as well. But you are welcome to revel in your stupidity.

No what's stupid is you not liking someone saying they hate the NBA.. I know many people that don't care for the NBA.. I don't like driving a car in fact I hate it, I drive a Truck!! So if you state you drive a car in which I hate then your are asinine for driving one because I think a Truck is better.. Yea keep dribbling in your stupidity!! I'm done with this argument because it's stupid, this is a Tiger board not the Grizzlies and NBA!!
