Hargrave graduate Andre Washington transferring from WFU

7ft., 235 lbs, Graduate student with one year of eligibility, so he could play without sitting a year. Intriguing...

He apparently chose to redshirt his Senior season to gain some size and strength. It was mentioned that this would also allow him to transfer as a graduate without waiting. He was a 3 star out of HS, and considered the #25 center in the country in the class of 2012.

Not a great scorer, but considered a great shot blocker and rebounder.

Perhaps a direct replacement for Chuck?

No idea. But with his role on the team being relegated to the bench, Keatts isn't afraid to yank a scholly for a better player. It all just seems too perfect. Keatts would know this player VERY well, so he would know if he could contribute to this team, since Ogbodo isn't.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if this was the plan when he redshirted with Wake last year. Think about it. He stays at Wake on their dime, all the while knowing he's going to come to UNCW as a graduate and unite with Keatts. :-) He ASKED to be redshirted his senior season....there was a plan of some kind. If he transferred to UNCW this year, he would have sat anyhow, but we would have to have given him a scholarship, and we didn't have one to give. WIN-WIN for us...if my conspiracy theory is correct....

I have a weird feeling about this....

Check out this video:

WFU has a slew of big men. But, looking at this video he looks he would be a huge get for us.

Wake told him he would not play and he decided to sit out.

Not that it matters, I like the knowledge you bring to the board, but you have an uncanny ability to try and put a damper on any apparent good news heading our way. Washington would be an outstanding pick up for the Dub if it happens.

If mullet won the powerball lottery his response would be. "Big deal I gotta pay more in taxes now"

At the very least considering he's a Hargrave guy I bet there will at least be a conversation between Washington and Keatts.

Could have used him today If we can't put Chuck in when our other centers have fouled out it is time for him to go.

I found it kind of surprising we didn't at least try that for small spells to keep Gettys and Cacock safe.

Chuck hasn't sniffed the floor in over a month.

Probably need to close this thread as well, since speculating about a transfer would require we open up a scholarship.

No, the flavor of this thread is quite different than the other honestly.

Speculating about a transfer is different than openly discussing which of our CURRENT players we do or don't feel are dispensable.
