NCAA tourney
I wonder how many folks are watching the game tonight hoping that Wichita St gets their doors blown off of them- to put maybe not a stop to the advanced metrics bs, but slow it way down......

RE: NCAA tourney
No results in this tournament is gonna prove anything beyond the shadow of a doubt and besides, Wichita is playing a team that didn't exactly deserve a bid.

RE: NCAA tourney
Syracuse should, at least, be playing in this game. What a joke. I hope Vandy goes to pieces.

RE: NCAA tourney
Yup, the "advanced metrics" are madly in love with Wichita State.

KPI has a table showing how six different "ratings" including theirs rated the tournament and bubble teams -- the consensus of the six said Wichita should have been a #6 seed in the tournament. They had Vandy as a #9 seed.

The four teams the "ratings consensus" would have left out are Oregon State, Temple, Michigan, and Tulsa; they would have Saint Mary's, Valpo, Florida, and SDSU in the field instead. And they would have had Syracuse as the last at-large team in the field, thus in a play-in game.

The selection of Vandy by the committee was truly a wise one. King Solomon could not have picked better.

Vandy shot 30.3 percent from the floor, 3-for-19 from three. Nobody's surprised, except the committee.

RE: NCAA tourney
There's too many variables to encapsulate what the result meant. Could have been seeding, could have been merit, metrics confusion, momentum, or just a bad night for one and a good enough one for the other.

I'd like to think they seeded Wichita wrongly, and that they weren't the ones to be forced into the play-in. Swap them out with Temple or Syracuse.

On a side note, if I'm Iowa and Baylor, I'd be complaining about the pairing with respect to the venue. Xavier's got a potential match with Wisconsin at a place that's practically equidistant from each other.

The Wichita D has a way of doing that to teams. We do have the number 1 D according to a couple of rankings systems.

Our problem is our offense disappears at times as you saw tonight. But once we hit a few shots, we're pretty damn good.

That was a strange pick. So they played Purdue, Texas, Dayton, Baylor and Kansas out of conference. They lost ALL of those. Their big ooc win was probably Stony Brook by 7 at home. South Carolina was 24-8, not 19-13, tied with Vandy in the SEC at 11-7 and beat them head to head. They also had a win at Texas A&M who the tourney seeded ahead of Kentucky.

I guess that's a thought. They wanted to give Wichita St. a relatively easy first game?
