I think they are still fine with that they didn't like that he was black.

In the grand scope of things, maybe one more year wouldn't be the end of the world.

36,000 dumb Vol fans signed a petition to get rid of Martin and return Bruce Pearl. Martin took UT to the Sweet 16. The Vols ended up with Donnie Tyndall. They got what they deserved!

That goes both ways. The admin/boosters asking people to "put up" with another year of this because they don't have the money to correct the problem they created? Hope Laurie's got an extra $20M per to make up for the shortcoming. Hope football, baseball, and every other sport has some boosters of their own to pay the deficits the soon-to-be-barbecued cash cow of Memphis has always paid before.

Actually, they ended up with Rick Barnes eventually, who will turn out to be pretty good for them (if he can get recruiting rolling).

Tyndall was just the purgatory that they had to endure, and he wouldn't have been all that bad but for the violations at USM.

Barnes is aight. I mean he didnt get out of the 2nd round with Kevin Durant. He's a good recruiter but underachieved a lot in Austin

train wreck? Montgomery had them in the postseason every year he coached there.

Why is this relevant to us? Did we make a Sweet 16 under JP that missed? The last time I checked we were two straight seasons of under 20 wins and no post season play at all...

yeah he was bringing in high level talent and had a couple of NBA players during his tenure. wasn't like Cuonzo was taking over a dead program.

Eh, yeah, you can say he underachieved, but if you look at his entire body of work, he's been great. A Final Four, Elite 8s, Sweet 16s. Whether he got there by getting great talent or coaching up inferior talent isn't too important, it's results.

UT landing a coach with that kind of tournament (and conference) success is huge for them.

Cuonzo was a bad coach at TN. He had the luckiest draw ever to escape town. He hasnt exactly done anything at Cal either with 2 lottery picks on his current team.
