No doubt NIU is championship caliber in terms of playmakers but like last year showed, without good line play its a lost cause. This year's team is probably even weaker on the lines than last year which is concerning.
You are correct about the OL. Most important position(s) in college football. Without a good OL, the running and passing games are zilch. Not much left after that. And the OL was one of our big weaknesses last year.
Very true. But one thing that has me optimistic about the O-lines future is their size. I realize size doesn't equate to ability, but it's a nice asset to have. Like a WR having speed. Doesn't mean he can catch or run routes, but it can be key to upside.
Here is the average size for the young Linemen(Fr., RS-Fr, So) in 2010 and in 2015:
2010 - 9 total. Avg 6-4, 276.43
2015 - 11 total Avg 6-3 3/4, 292.91
