Athletic Facility Drawings
I saw the drawings this morning online on the BX/Ohio website. (Finally, they have been uploaded)

Renovations:
To The Glass Bowl........
1. 2 new sets of restrooms on the east side. NE and SE.
2. 2 new concrete concession stands similar to the west side.
3. Larger storage building located behind SE restrooms.
4. new sandstone east gates and decorative fence.

To Savage Arena (to the east end of the Grogan Room)........
1. New basketball coaches offices and meeting rooms on concourse/ground floor.
2. expansion of the Grogan Room on the 2nd floor above new offices, also the site of new training table for athletes. (approx. 50 ft. x 60 ft.)
3. another entrance looking to similar to the current one used to access the Grogan Room, but no public access to arena or Grogan Room.

Having the training table at Savage will also allow the opportunity for the kitchen there to be a feeder of better food products to the concession areas.

There are over 90 drawings for The Glass Bowl, and over 130 drawings for Savage Arena.

With the b-ball offices being located on the concourse level east of the Grogan room, I wonder if the vacated coaches space above the loges/suites will be renovated into additional suites. More guaranteed revenue for the athletic department, whether they are being used or not.

#1 thing for the Glass Bowl and nobody wants to do anything about it.

The description doesn't make it clear, but I hope they can reconfigure the mess of steel supports under the east stands into some space that makes sense.

Just a rumor but I heard they would be converted into pre-game party rooms for Launch Pad posters. BTW, I started the rumor.

RE: Athletic Facility Drawings
Neither the aesthetics nor the needs for all those things (mostly the ones at Savage) is clear to me. I'm sure it's working in someone's brain, but I don't see it, not when the GB needs more than two concrete box concessions mimicking the bad concessions on the other side of the GB. Sandstone gates and decorative fencing on a side almost no one uses isn't making sense to me either, though I'm sure it will look fine.

OK nutshell, the only thing making sense to me is the new bathrooms.

Don't forget they are replacing the turf in the GB this year too, which is another big chunk of change. I heard that will start immediately after the spring game.

The new turf should be nice. Hopefully the midfield Rocket logo is huge and bold like a Rocket should be.

What colors do you guys want to see in the end zones? I like the traditional midnight blue background with gold lettering but I wouldn't be opposed to a change if it looked good.

Green?

I guess I'd like it to stay pretty much the same. I prefer the game play not to have to compete for attention with the turf. Save the flash for the underneath, the video boards....

I think the improvements on the east side of the Glass Bowl are appropriate. But, it doesn't appear that there will be anything like a patio lounge incorporated into the stands. (Might not be the right terminology, but you know what I mean.)

I have a sense that monitors and sound under the stands will be part of the East side improvements, there is a heck of a lot of electrical costs in that project, my sense is its a total gut and all new under there. Have some faith guys!

I have a drawing of the turf. Not sure if it was chosen or not, submitted by the VC at UT. Looks rad.

RE: Athletic Facility Drawings (More drawings)
Addendum #1 came out on Friday, March 18th.

This can mean a number of things:
1. Changes in the drawings, such as wrong length or elevation.
2. More detailed drawings have been drawn.
3. Scope of work to be done has changed.
4. Clarification of obscure wording in notes of plans.
5. Answers to contractors questions.
6. Change in bid date.
6. etc.......

In this case, an additional 65 detailed drawings were issued.
19 for The Glass Bowl
46 for Savage Arena

There is currently a total of 285 drawings.
