I hate these rehash pieces that offer no new information and completely ignore the nuances of what they're trying to get at. Nobody that reads this site regularly is going to learn anything new by reading that piece. It's incredible that Joe Nocera thought it was a news worthy effort to spend so much time crafting it.

Gosh its getting annoying reading how everyone and their mother talks crap about this conference. It's an amazing conference, they would all wish to be in.

Much appreciated.

It's tiring when you don't see these reporters tackling the real issues at hand. The corrupt GOB system itself. The only thing "motley" about the have-nots is that they are being cut off from the bulk of the resources.

If the reporters scratched a little below the surface, they'd make interesting discoveries. Like the fact UConn has had plenty of talent come through the school in the last 10 years. A lot of that talent is on NFL rosters right now.

The problem for UConn was a horrible stretch of 3 years under Pasqualoni. A lot of talent + bad coaching = a lot of losses. A little talent + very good coaching = fewer losses than the reverse.

It's just a rehash article from one of our local papers. Doesn't really show anything other than what media outlets cover the Huskies.

UConn issue is the lack of d-1 talent in the area. That puts pressure on the recruiting to get out and sign players from other regions. That said, it is just a matter of time until uconn is gone.

Maybe they don't do it in Greenville but nationally people have been talking crap about this conference from the day it was first formed.

But New York doesnt care about UConn.. Two weeks ago the entire front page of the Sports Section was a reflection on UConn's women's team.

That will be the case as they make this title run as well.

I wouldn't take the NYT sports section's love of women's basketball as a reflection of UConn's strength in NYC. The New York Times sports section isn't much of a reflection of the NYC sports scene. Sports fans get the Daily NEws and the Post. That sort of frees the NYT to write sports stories they find "important."

When UConn wins big, they get the back pages. When St Johns used to win big, we get the back pages. Nobody knows what would happen if Rutgers ever won anything.

The daily news and the post cover UConn pretty well too, at least online they do. Wouldn't really know about the print editions myself up here in Hartford.

That's true. It might be 4-5 months or it might be 4-5 decades. No way to know for sure.

Spot on. Who wouldn't want an auto bid to The Sugar Bowl or Cotton Bowl with a guaranteed $25m plus a year revinue.

This is just a butthurt reporter (who is an obvious Big East fan) wishing that the Big East had UConn back. It is comical that he thinks that dropping football and going back to the Big East would be the best move for UConn.

The Big East (in their best year since the football schools left) got 5 teams into the NCAA Tourney. The AAC, in a mediocre year with the bottom third of their conference still developing their teams, got 4 teams into the NCAA Tourney. Yeah, UConn should leave for the Big East for that one extra tourney slot and also give up playing on ESPN to play on FS1 instead. Not.

I wish that AAC fans (and some UConn fans) would stop complaining about the basketball in this conference. If UConn doesn't end up in a P5 conference, then this is a solid home. The AAC will be a stronger conference than the Big East in the long run.

Do you think the state will keep pouring money into the program as it loses 20 million a year? Serious question, because thats going to be the deciding factor if you keep your FB program at FBS level. Losing 20 million a year isn't chump change for a state that is having fiscal issues. Do the people of CT want nicer roads or a UConn FB program? The Big East is a legit option to fully fund the athletic department without FB and keep BBall playing at a high level. Fiscal responsibility or pouring more money into a hole? The people who actually have a say will make it based on that reality.

What is the purpose of this article. The same article has been written at least 100 times and at this point serves no purpose. We get it, everyone wants to be in the so called, self appointed "power 5". Does writing this over and over help anything.

What state is losing twenty million dollars a year because of UConn football? It sure isn't Connecticut.
