Vegas 16
Old Dominion and La Tech accepted bids. Not a terrible field compared to the CBI and CIT.

The tournament is sticking with the name Vegas 16, but decided to only invite 8 teams this inaugural year. C-USA has a 25% chance of winning it.

I think I read teams still have to play 50k to play. Tourney officials wanted to get some power 5 teams to join but it looks like they were turned down by all of them.

I might have gone to Vegas. I am not going to Utah for one game.

The NIT should be folded up into the regular tournament with it just being extended a week... easy, fair, makes more money, and everyone is happy.

RE: Vegas 16
I see another lawsuit on the horizon.

The NIT sued the NCAA about a decade ago, claiming that the NCAA was restricting teams from playing in the NIT and teams should have a right to choose whether to play in the NIT or NCAA (I know, in their current state, why would someone choose NIT over NCAA). Apparently the argument had merit because instead of fighting them in court, the NCAA simply bought the NIT.

I can see this Vegas 16 doing the same thing, saying the NCAA/NIT is restricting schools from playing the Vegas 16. At some point, this conference could challenge the NIT for the secondary tournament.

I'm sure you mean "tournament"...

I'm hoping Freeman can be sent off with a win, but, to be fair, I hope La. Tech does well, too.

That said, I'm surprised they couldn't get some buy in from some power teams. With time, I could see it being a better event than the other two, though.
