RE: College Transfers
I haven't been paying enough attention prior to this year to see if this is a multi-year trend or just a 1-2 year blip. Anyone have numbers?

RE: College Transfers
Think last year was similar by NCAA (not sure CAA)

Looks like JMU's only recruit who signed (Zach Hollywood) was released from his LOI. As of now, JMU has 9 scholarship seniors, 1 scholarship Junior, and 1 scholarship Sophomore next year (1 Soph walkon) and 2 open spots. Neither Sophomore played more than 5 minutes per game last year

Quote:In the last three years, the number of Division I men's basketball players changing schools has increased from 455 in 2013 to 604 in 2014 to more than 700 prior to this season, according to an annual list compiled by ESPN.

RE: College Transfers
It has been trending up, and the interpretation of graduate transfer rules has certainly aided that. For the CAA this year, there really are not that many. The ones that have them are mainly due to: a coaching change or the graduate student rule. Outside of those, I would think a list of a handful of guys from the entire league is pretty normal.

RE: College Transfers
Tonight is W&M's big basketball dinner, being held at Governor's Landing looking over the James River.
It is a sellout to the point where another, adjacent dining room to the main dining room had to be added.
This is always a gala event, with the players and many of their parents sitting with Tribe followers.

Will ask around to see if any info can be picked up on a possible transfer, game schedules for next season,
etc.

Charleston
Canyon Barry
Donovan Gilmore

Delaware (Have 7 scholarships to give for this year and 4 more year after)
Eric Carter
Chivarsky Corbett
Kory Holden
Skye Johnson
Also lost a recruit Randy Miller who decommitted

Drexel
Terrell Allen
Sammy Mojica - not officially out there but twitter and Drexel board said is happening

James Madison
None that I see but they lost a recruit Jordan Shepherd who I don't think had signed an LOI yet and released their only other recruit who had signed an LOI. Did sign a JUCO today.

Northeastern
Brandon Kamga

Towson
AJ Astroth
Byron Hawkins

UNCW
C.J. Gettys
Chuck Ogbodo

Supposedly adding Grad Transfer Gettys (according to the UNCW board) and AJ Astroth (who did not play this year) from Towson.

Now going to add a 3rd UNCW player who in this case had less than 10 minutes per game last year.

1st mention of a transfer being linked to William & Mary. John Rothstein tweeted:
"Toledo transfer Stuckey Mosley told @CBSSports he will visit La Tech next week. Also considering GW, San Francisco, and William + Mary."
6'3 guard from Orlando averaged 10pts/5reb as a sophomore at Toledo

Mark Matthews seems to have walked back his transfer, or it was a mistake.

Looks like Stuckey originally chose Toledo over Columbia, so he fits our academic profile. He's got athletic family, too, with a sister playing hoops, brother playing football, his mom ran track, and his dad was a safety in college.

Freshman year story

Just based on stats, he seems like our kind of player, too. Decent FG/3PT %, good steal numbers. He sounds like a defensive-minded player, which we'll need if we can't find anyone to replace Terry and Daniel after this year.

RE: College Transfers
We recruited Mosley out of high school, if I'm not mistaken. He started 31 of 32 games as a sophomore for Toledo. He cited the transfer was to get closer to home, though a juco guard just transferred in. Looking at the listed schools, LA Tech gets him closest to home. It's not a great school though. San Francisco is even further than Toledo. I cannot imagine that is something that he will do. Mosley is a high academic from an academic family. I think only 2 of the listed schools fit the bill - GW & William and Mary. Neither gets him close to Orlando though.

RE: College Transfers
Is it possible that there's a USF mix up and he's actually looking at South Florida? Because that IS a lot closer to home.

Could be, it's just South Florida wasn't mentioned as a school with interest.

During the WM v JMU baseball broadcast the commentators mention that JMU basketball will be gettin a transfer from a JUCO in Colorado. First recruit of the new coach.

Re: College Transfers
It may mean nothing, but one of the coaches is following Boston College transfer Matt Milon. Fits our mold. 6'4 guard. Outstanding shooter and student. Should have 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Kory Holden to South Carolina.
Andre Washington to ECU. Least he wasn't picked up by Keatts as another Hargrave grad.

RE: College Transfers
Seeing the number of P5 suitors for so many mid to low major so-so transfers is quite puzzling. An alarming pattern still for the NBA farm system for one and done P5 players, and P5 farm system for mid major players to fill the void/attrition. Not sure where all of this is heading down the road, but not good.

Canyon Barry has now moved to #2 on ESPN'S Top 10 available transfer list with some big names in contention. All due respect to him and his mom, but really? He's not that level.
